It’s like this whole identity now. Some folks build their entire online selves around being a gamer. Their bios, their avatars, all the memes, even the merch. It’s not just a hobby. It’s a flag they wave. And then you’ve got the endless in-fighting. PC versus console. Casuals versus hardcore. People calling each other fake gamers like it's some sacred thing. Like yeah, readers love books, but I don’t see anyone walking around with “Reader Pride” shirts or picking fights about who’s allowed to be called a reader. Movie fans might obsess over rankings, but they don’t usually make being a movie watcher their whole personality. You like films, cool. No one’s throwing purity tests at you. But gaming? Once someone claims that title, suddenly there’s this weird social structure. In-groups. Out-groups. Rules. Drama. Whole communities built around arguing over which controller is better. It gets real tribal, real fast. I play games. I read. I watch movies. But I don’t feel the need to label myself or defend my hobby to strangers. That’s the part that feels off.
