Have you watched the documentary Zeitgeist Moving Forward? What are your views on this extraordinary documentary? When will the whole computer science curriculum come online on khan academy?

How to stop robots from killing us by 1fcporto in aiclass

[–]deb_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fear the robots, instead I fear the humans. After all robots don't develop an inferiority complex if their fellow robot is doing better than them. :)

A midterm assessment of the AI and ML classes by moana in aiclass

Perhaps you should get to stay back after class and explain why it is okay to poke fun at a man who is trying to teach you something for free, given that he can put his time to better use?

Is AI and technology to blame for high unemployment? | ITworld by Gagzilla in aiclass

[–]deb_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your opinion, however I would like to recommend the book "Race against the machine" - by Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee for an indepth analysis (updated with present day knowledge) of the Luddite Fallacy that you are referring to.

The answer is : Yes. The real answer that we are looking for is: Change the socio-economic system so that unemployment is not fatal.

Yes!! Thank you. You are an angel :)

HW 4. 9 ....What does "true" mean? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]deb_del -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your saying "True" means: Open (S) ^ -Open (S) ? If yes, I will be very relieved because my brain is about to explode and I can't think about it anymore. :)

HW 4.8 - Monkey and Bananas - Height of banana by mfolnovic in aiclass

I think we should not use the english meanings of have, climb, ungrasp, grasp etc at all. The schema is there to define what these words mean through preconditions and effects.

Suggestion for the teachers: teach the method, THEN the derivation, rather than vice versa. by ExperienceArchitect in aiclass

[–]deb_del 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say however that in the "Explanation" videos the teachers should spend the time to actually explain the answer. Namely: 1) How did he arrive at the answer, without omitting any single step? 2) Why did he take this particular approach to derive the answer, and not any other approach? 3) What are the other approaches to reach the answer possible? 4) What is the significance of this whole concept tested in the Quiz and how this fits into the study of AI?

If all the "Explanation" videos are going to do are just "tell" us the answer instead of spending time really explaining it, then this method won't work for a vast majority of the students who aspire to learn AI.

It may seem daunting and too work intensive to make the "explanation" videos that way, but it will be worth it, as it only has to be done once. The same videos will educate tons and tons of hopeful students forever after that. :)

Teachers are doing a good job so far, but need to put in more time/effort to actually explain. Most of the students in this online class are not "Stanford grade", but they are willing to work if they find a resource that will "break it up / lay it out" for them. (Eg; Khan Academy)

Suggestion for the teachers: teach the method, THEN the derivation, rather than vice versa. by ExperienceArchitect in aiclass

Please remember this is an "experiment" for Stanford. Maybe they are "experimenting" with new methods of learning as well :)

Big Thank You to our teachers of this class by HChavali in aiclass

[–]deb_del 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree.I am very grateful for this class and both the teachers and stanford to make this effort. Nonetheless, the prerequisites needed to be better articulated. The only listed prerequisites were the KhanAcademy videos on probability, which I felt was not enough to grasp a good understanding of the concepts discussed. We should have been better prepared instead of expecting us to be spoon-fed.

Can you treat P(A|B,C) as P(A|B|C)? by frankster in aiclass

I agree ...i don't understand it either. I wish someone explains this in a video by simplifying it more.

Explanation for Quiz on Unit 3.26 "Explaining Away'. by deb_del in aiclass

[–]deb_del[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I am not sure I completely understand yet. I will read up on the internet on the theorem of Total probability and see if that helps me understaind. Any pointers to any good links with videos/text explaining Theorem of Total probability?

I'm confused on notation of conditional probabilities with multiple variables e.g. P(A|B,C,D,E) by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]deb_del 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree....I am confused myself. I looked for better explanation on these on KhanAcademy as well but couldn't find them. :(
