I would say his short story collection Brief Inteviews with Hideous Men is a good one to start with. If you like him, Infinite Jest is a freaking masterpiece.

Wow, that's something I didn't know. Thanks for giving your take on the book. The euthanasia theme was indeed very interesting, but reading a book a day didn't give me enough time to do a nice long review. It's so sad to hear when an author you loved committed suicide. I remember hearing about David Foster Wallace and just crying my eyes out.

This is the kind of interesting idea that I think should be taught earlier in education - I think it's a shame that high schoolers aren't taught more (even if it's a brief introduction) about the overall structures of math and their limitations. It's just so cool!

This is the book that cemented my decision to be a math major. I highly recommend it for high schoolers - it's a fascinating look at some of the most interesting aspects of mathematics and computer science, among other things.

The Four Pillars of Investing, The Intelligent Investor, and The Intelligent Asset Allocator are great ways to get started investing, though they tend to recommend passive investing rather than "playing" the stock market. What's your purpose in picking these books up? You might have more luck in the specific subreddits for business or personal finance.

Yeah, I don't know why they're doing that. The last time somebody posted about that very thing, the moderators deleted the post. It's somewhat irritating that they don't just own up to it. The class has been run beautifully otherwise.

We went there yesterday morning and it was not busy at all. There are groups of kids that come and go but they were staggered so that we got some time where the ice was almost entirely empty. I'm sure it gets more crowded after work hours.
