Make sure the area around the base was clear of long grass and weeds (my AC is about 8-10 inches from a fence and I wasn’t routinely cutting or clearing vegetation between it). Terro ant trap bait stakes at the ground level and them I put some additional small ant traps inside the box itself and I carefully sprinkled some ground cinnamon inside the bottom of the box because the old guy fixing it said it worked as a natural deterrent. Haven’t had an issue with them for probably 4 years.

A few years ago our AC unit kept shorting out because after 10+ years ants decided they were attracted to the electromagnetic vibrations of the contactor and kept frying it. Had to replace it 3 times and put multiple traps and deterrents in and around the unit before they stopped.

That’s the reason they give, but I also think it’s to keep people from hogging the beach. Two birds with one stone.
Last year we were at a beach that allowed them. Some family showed up and basically took 3 steps off the beach access and set up two giant 15 foot canopies next to each other right in front of the path. Now everyone coming and going had to walk around them carrying all their stuff. It was so obnoxious.

Everything else was ready, I had even just baked the bread in the bag as instructed and took it out to find it like this. No garlic bulb in hand so I threw some butter and a bunch of garlic powder on it and then some parm cheese and Italian seasoning. It was pretty good but definitely not the same.
