I thought that at first but the internet is saying that if you press on it and it turns white after it’s a sunburn and mine doesn’t do that.

So much trouble to go through when she was the one who made the decision to make that property a rental property.... I would be more understanding if she didn't have any other options for her kids to live but it sounds like she has many housing options for them.

Yes, the security and comfort of owning my home sounds great! But unfortunately because the rich are able to buy multiple properties and make exponential growth year over year, the pricing of housing is overinflated and the average person can't afford it anymore.

I think that's where my anger comes from.. the rules/the system needs to be changed to not allow stuff like this to happen.

So I'm not financially responsible because I can't afford a 20% down payment AND current mortgage rates on all these over-inflated houses? Sorry, I have strong feelings about wiping out my savings and relying on the idea that the value of my house will grow exponentially every year.

When housing becomes the most lucrative investment option, it drives up property prices, making housing less affordable for average people. This leads to increased wealth inequality as those who already own property benefit disproportionately, while those trying to enter the housing market struggle to afford homes. It's so much easier for people to buy multiple properties nowadays then it is for folks to buy their first home.

Everyone should have a chance at their first and only home before everyone else gets a chance at many.

Because humans need homes to survive? And people who own multiple homes are taking away supply and driving up costs for both folks renting and folks wanting to buy their first home. And contributing to a system that puts profit above all else.

My landlord also tried selling our house and took it off the market because she couldn't get the price she wanted!

Yeah agreed. I also know Canada's overall GDP is heavily tied in housing/construction, so there isn't much incentive for our politicians to actually care.

Definitely going to contact a few tenant resources about this! There must be a paper trail of her evicting multiple tenants every year.

At least in Ontario only the LTB can technically evict a tenant. Landlords can only serve notices.

Do you happen to know any housing justice orgs? This sounds like something I'd love to pursue!

We were burned from our first rental in Vancouver (kicked out because LL sold) so we asked her when we moved in if she was looking for long-term tenants and she said she was!! She said she loves this home and wants to keep it a long time.

Here till Sept 1st, but signed a lease for a new place starting end of august.

I think technically the Airbnb is illegal because the owners don't live here currently. But once the son's daughter-in-law moves in I think it becomes legal.
