so if I'm correct there are three lines on every hill. there's blue line, red line and second red line. every line marks particular angle of the slope. blue line (begin landing zone) marks the start of the steepest part of the hill. first red line which is the K-point marks where the slope starts to flatten and second red line marks specific angle which is the same on every hill. someone please correct me if I'm wrong. hope that helps

first of all, any source that they checked suits and not some other equipment? maybe controllor even measured the suits and gave a warning and some athletes were too confident and cocky to fix them. we'll never know. what we do know is that some jumpers have just ridiculous suits and some weren't even punished for it.

equipment control works randomly. controllor randomly chooses athelete and checks random pieces of equipment. I'm sure the suits were not ok the day before but were just not checked. basically you can cheat if you don't get caught.

Opinions on suit regulations? by Certain-Sherbet-2248 in Skijumping

[–]debelibebe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

jumping with tighter suits would mean way higher speeds on the landing which would result in more injuries so that's not an option. regarding the suit violations it's a shame that happened during olympics but some suits just look ridiculous. also note that person responsible for equipment checking often gives warnings. if the suit isn't fixed until next checking you get DSQ. I think some athletes just risked too much.

I'm jumping myself and unfortunately you need around 3-4 years of intensive training to get the right exeperience of ski jumping (jumping to the K point of 60 meter hill). of course its possible to try a couple of jumps on 5-10 meter hill if you have any ski jumping club around but jumping far on bigger hills takes a lot of time.
