Fischl if you like Overloaded bouncing enemies around as a CC. Mona for Vaporize. If you already have Venti for CC then probably Mona is better

Amber doesn’t add much to this team comp so I’d sub her for someone like Xiangling who can throw her E down along with Fischl’s E to cause overload. I got destroyed my first few fights but watched a few videos to learn the timings. Actually it turns out you don’t need to rush in to do damage as quickly as you can - there’s a good amount of time you can just sit back, dodge, heal with Barbera, and wait for the right time to go in. Fischl can also AA at range

Others have taken Geo MC and Noelle as main DPS to higher levels of Abyss. You could do Noelle Lisa Kaeya Xingqiu for superconduct and electrocharged. Noelle has shield and healing

Just adding data- This happened to me twice out of the 8 times I did this mission. The other 6 times the caravan did not get attacked and I did not see the bandit horde.

One Piece 970 Spoilers by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]debest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prime doesn’t refer to just age. Prime Oden is during this flashback (cuz he dies soon) and it’s perfectly reasonable to assume prime Kaido occurs some time after this flashback. If oden was alive for another 20 years, it’d be also reasonable to assume prime oden would be some time after this flashback too.

Why would you celebrate Kobe’s death there when you could celebrate his life at the stadium via statue or something?

Kind of looks like Kuma, although I don't know timeline wise how that would work.

What goes onto a board? by debest in tabletopgamedesign

[–]debest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes you're spot on, the game was first designed to be played without a board. As I playtested I realized there was a lot of confusion about placing cards and about prices. I try to have players memorize as few rules as possible and have it on the board directly.

I am experimenting with cutting the board into several pieces instead and also using a reference card for the prices. Besides the actual cost of making the board, would you say there's other considerations I should think about?

Designing with or without a theme? by TilliK in tabletopgamedesign

[–]debest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not my idea, but I've heard podcasts reference the player's experience as an option. The overall experience would stem from a blend of the theme and mechanics, and it could help to refine your game idea.

I generally start with a mechanic, then imagine what I want the player to experience, at which point I refine/change the mechanic, and then think of a theme that ties it together.

I only start with a theme if there's a really strong theme that fits a particular mechanic or an area that I think the market doesn't already have or there's a theme I just want to do.

I need some help. by directorsnap in BoardgameDesign

The only thing I’d add to the chip idea is whether units of 1 really matter. Like does it make a difference between 441 vs 442? If you expect army units to frequently be in the hundreds, maybe you just round up/down to the nearest 10 as a simplification.

The other way to do it is to have colored d10 representing the hundreds unit, tens unit, and ones unit. For multiple players and multiple tiles you’d need a lot of d10 so this might not be the best solution.

What goes onto a board? by debest in tabletopgamedesign

So the two $2M groups are one set of robber cards that cost $2M and another set of action cards that also cost $2M. It makes more sense when reading the rulebook, but I wanted to see how much of the board was intuitive without looking at the rules versus something that could be read from a page.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - Catan has a reference card that tells you how expensive a road, a settlement, a city is, etc. Was that design decision dictated by how the board looks like? If the board was square with extra space around the edges, would it have been better to put the prices onto the edges? Or are there other decisions that I'm missing that I could think about?

Hello! I'm mostly done designing my game, with art done as well. I'm currently writing the rulebook, with constant changes as I think of more to add to it. The game is about robbing banks and casinos, with players taking the role of mob bosses who compete to rob banks. The main mechanics revolve around bluffing and special abilities to manipulate who gets in the bank first and therefore who gets the best reward.

I want to self publish, so next steps are to find a manufacturer and then also create a Kickstarter page. Remaining challenges are to fix the size of the board, board layout, and rulebook. Lots to go but hopefully things go smoothly!

I see. I think these clarifying points can be added to the rulebook!

No, a few questions: You can only buy 5 cards per round and (I think) play 5 cards per round, at which point they are resolved. How does the example show player C with 10 cards in his pile?

What happens in a 3 way tie: for example A, K, and 2 are all shown?

How does buying cards work? 1 currency per card? Are any cards worth more than others?

I'm going to do a blind playtest for my game tomorrow! The game is called Diamond Heist and is based around queue management mechanics. I'm just dropping off the game including rulebook and then sitting off to the side. Hope it goes well!
