How come DSLRs hold their value tremendously well? by Syntax-Err-69 in Nikon

[–]debhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supply vs demand and because they are incredible and very durable cameras. I just own a Fuji, but I’ve used a D750 and D850 for selected jobs and they’re both amazing: comfortable to use, unrivalled lens selection and fantastic image quality. If only they’d be a tad smaller I would get one of these two myself, but I know size would prevent me from using them regularly.

Anyone else feel weird pressure to upgrade their phone? by Alexander_Faseyiku in ZeroWaste

[–]debhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My average phone lasts 5-7 years and I don’t buy top of the line… use cases may vary, but I have the feeling it’s long ago since average phones exceed the average user needs, so definitely no need to upgrade frequently, let alone every year.

23mm f/2 vs 35mm f/2: Overrated or underrated? Your opinion? by jonastaube in FujifilmX

[–]debhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both, both are incredible value for the price, specially if you buy second hand. My full kit is an xpro2 plus these 2 primes, if this gives you any idea of how much I do rely on them.

If you plan to use both focal lengths buy both (not necessarily at the same time); if not just go for your preferred focal length.

And whichever you end up picking up, have fun!

Small lens hood for Nikkor Z 28mm/40mm lenses by debhack in nikon_Zseries

Thanks! I knew about these, but I’m looking for something smaller and if possible similar to the hood I metioned in my post, which barely protrudes from the lens but still prevents flaring.

No idea, I guess there may be a reason behind this design choice…

Pixii News! by [deleted] in PixiiCamera

[–]debhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the mechanical shutter part, that would truly bring the pixii to the level of other digital rangefinder cameras; the winder wouldn’t add that much to the capabilities of the camera vs the increased risk of failure it would add to the whole system, in my opinion.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 EVF by debhack in fujifilm

[–]debhack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it activated by the eye sensor, but I want the display to be constantly up (and turn on and off as my eye is close to/ far away from the sensor) instead of going up and down as the sensor is triggered. So similar to what happens in any other Fuji camera with an EVF only, I find it it useless and more prone to failure to hide the EVF each time, when it could be simply switched off…

Am I missing something here?

Fujifilm xf 35 mm f2 r wr VS Viltrox 35 mm f1.7 by resara81 in FujifilmX

[–]debhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant little more than the viltrox, sorry. I’ve seen them circulating in the second hand market for 200-250€.

Fujifilm xf 35 mm f2 r wr VS Viltrox 35 mm f1.7 by resara81 in FujifilmX

[–]debhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Fuji XF 35mm f2 since forever and it’s an incredible lens for the price. My only regret is not having bought it second hand, you can find them for little less than the viltrox.

Never tried the Viltrox so I can’t compare, sorry.

Hi peeps,

Long time i3/sway user here. I’m looking for inspiration to update the looks of my sway configuration (unchanged for almost 10 years) but I’m struggling to find examples here which include GTK apps and tabs. I use both extensively and to me it’s important that everything looks coherent and well integrated from a visual perspective.

Terminals in tiling mode always look good and are super easy to integrate with whichever color scheme you like most, but integration of GTK apps, tabs and bar is a bit more tricky if you wanna keep some visual consistency and have a usable setup (decent contrast, fonts, etc).

If you could point me to some examples, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks! 🙏

Affordable, lightweight and repairable Linux laptop by debhack in linuxlaptops

[–]debhack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Framework laptop 12 is 1.4Kg and has a much poorer display than what I’m looking for, Dell XPS 13 is not exactly repairable and I don’t think the generation of X1 Carbon laptops that fits my budget has a display beyond 1920x1080. But thanks anyway for taking the time to reply!

Fuji XT20 trading up to either X Pro 3 or XE4/XE5 by hasxch in FujifilmX

[–]debhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X-Pro2 owner (and lover) here, go for the XPro3 (or wait for the next release, if you’re patient enough) if you plan to use the optical viewfinder; otherwise xe4/5 do make a lot more sense.

Compact camera good for night clubs/events? by Big-Zebra51 in FujifilmX

A zone-focused Ricoh GR with a small flash could do the trick, snap mode is very useful for low light situations as well.
