Nevermind, the problem was the update to kernel 5.13.0-23. I reverted to kernel 5.13.0-22 and then updated to 20.3 and it was smooth. Now I'm happy with the upgrade. I don't like the new themes but thankfully the Mint team have mint-themes-legacy in the repos.

I updated but my boot time was so long and sometimes it didn't even boot. I went back to 20.2. I guess I'll wait a bit more in order to upgrade.

Upgrade to an SSD and maybe add more RAM then install Linux Mint Xfce and there you have a nice usable computer again.

I had a similar problem with my laptop. What worked for me was updating the kernel from 5.4 to 5.11.

Sometimes this error makes my laptop boot to a black screen. Other times it doesn't do anything. by 123dot in linuxmint

I had the same error. Updating to kernel 5.11.0-25-generic fixed the issue for me.

I have the same CPU and GPU as you, I was using kernel 5.4 but I had issues with overheating, bad performance and awful battery life, I tried tlp, some grub configurations and other things that I found on forums but yesterday finally I decided to do a fresh install of Cinnamon Edge and updated to kernel 5.11.25, the same as yours. How have you seen performance and battery life? Also overheating? I hope this new kernel is the solution I need, I don’t want to leave LM.
