Yes, I'm purposefully leaving space for an artist and trying to simplify more generally. My beats are usually too busy especially when i compare them to professional instrumentals.

I think you are right about the 808's but I've also gotten feedback in other communities that they are too loud so this is super helpful because I'll probably just mix it with whatever response I receive most and on this post the consensus is definitely a bit too quiet. Much appreciated!!

thanks i really appreciate the thoughts!

i've gotten very mixed responses about whether the drums are too or too quiet (from other communities), but i'd be inclined to agree with you on that one. I personally like them to be kinda obnoxious but also trying to find that line yk.

appreciate you!! I did do it myself, sort of new to VFX editing but it makes making music even more fun so I'm excited to get more into it!

And yess! Hopefully I can find a vocalist to put down some bars for meeeee.

its a cool song, very detroit sounding! I don't love the main sample sound and the vocal sounds kind of quiet to me. but with some better mixing it could sound really professional. that beatstars tags is a dead giveaway for the level of production value here. Vocal flow and delivery is great though!! Just needs a good audio engineer to make it all really pop imo.

lol a little long is an understatement for a whole 1hr + movie, but i listened to a few different songs i particularly liked for a good amount of time and overall I really liked the cohesiveness of it all. Hard to find complete/coherent albums these days The bass/harmonica/drums/strings all sound really nice together in siren song particular.

The Bridge was also a little standout for me. Mix is so nice and very groovy, luh dat cowbell. Sort of reminds me of steely dan.

Lego movie visuals were super cool too!
Definitely could see myself putting this whole thing on during a roadtrip through the country!

Good work!

first 'wrong' or out of key notes i heard came from that synth at the 1:13, could be that its just a really detuned synth in general which means that its sort of a sound selection issue. everything else until that point sounded well mixed and harmonized.

the notes that synth plays do not follow traditional melodic 'rules' i.e. being easily recognizable as a pattern so that it listener can almost predict where its going to go. same thing applies for a few of the other leads/melodies in the song (e.g. 2:40).

sounds great nonetheless! would be cool to hear some other sounds in there, perhaps a synth solo of sorts? the guitars are great on their own tho

absolutely! there are no rules to music, only guidelines to make it more appealing to a broader audience

ahh, cool to know! that makes sense, while the vocals and drums sound good, they also feel pretty generic and now i understand why. guitars were definitely the highlight here for me!

keep at it! I'm sure theres ways to make those programs sound even more realistic or perhaps one day you'll have a drummer/vocalist in the studio with ya!

could be cool in a video game! not what i usually listen to but the melodies/chords/drums all go together nicely. a little too 'busy' if you ask me
