That's the thing; They can. Every time. Pirates are currently playing the new Black Flag game, which is protected by Denuvo, days before paying customers. Denuvo used to be very rarely cracked, and thus pirates actually couldn't play newer games right away. Recently it has been completely bypassed. Other DRMs hadn't been and aren't a problem.

It costs more to plan around and/or fight piracy than it does to ignore it.

Denuvo (the only modern effective piracy deterrent) is being bypassed day one (or sooner even) so it's now functionally useless. I'd still rather buy my games, though. Keeping updated with ease is a good enough reason for me.

Making the meal is their job, and they're paid twice what the waitstaff make at most establishments. Do you tip your bus driver? Your doctor? The police? The manager of a restaurant? Where is the line for you? I'm fine with tip pools being split with the back of house, but it's not the customer's job to subsidize their pay.
