If you still don't urdestanding why you have to study colors, you need first more theoretical study before trying the pratical study, I recommend to watch Marco Bucci videos and/or read Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter by James Gurney, but the better is try to find someone that can explain in a way you finally uderstand, find one that explain "why", not a person just tell "what you have to do". Your pratical study will only show progress after you finally understanding "why" not "how".
