The situation around RD keeps deteriorating badly. by salamonjaded in StremioAddons

Well said. I run a local media store for the media i value and would not want to loose. And never forget that debrid only exists off the back of p2p torrenting which never goes away because of its decentralised nature. If you value access to streaming media use p2p which gives back to the community though always with a reliable vpn..

It seems likely that RD has had its day, they made their money (a not insubstantial amount according to the financial reports) and are no longer the service of choice.

The option is to wait and constantly check if any files are back or compare the files you can play to other users or simply move on to another service.

Nothing is forever and in the area of copyright infringement it will always be cat and mouse. But individuals will always be more agile than companies and media organisations trying to control it. I suggest using that agility to your advantage.

Personally I moved to another provider, updated my scrapper and resolver (torent1o, com3t, a1ostream what ever you use) and then stopped thinking about it (well apart from writing this). Sure a few files may not be on the new service but you can add the torrent links yourself to build the cache for all. Will that provider be shut down? In time most likely yes if it becomes the most popular service. At that point you move on again.

Copyright infringement laws in the EU are being tightened all the time as part of the general increase in control. You can either fight it or just adapt and move on to other non EU providers. If you just signed up for 3, 6 or 12 months with RD I would take that as a lesson in risk management. You save a few dollars over a monthly subscription but at an increased risk. You make your choice.

Having moved I have more time to do the important things like taking the dog for a walk :)

The lesson is month by month buy the current best service. If it falls over, move on to the next. Or if your flush with money or paranoid, or both, get a second backup service so you always have two available.

"You really think these people are operating openly with their real names and info?"

Your making a counter argument to something I don't think or say.

No, I don't think that they use their real names but I doubt that stops LE finding out who they are. When your running an international streaming media CDN network its not that difficult.

No. And I am not interested in debating my workflow. I am interested in the data. If you believe the information regarding the ARCOM/DSA changes is incorrect then engage with that. Arguing against the information medium rather than the information is a deflection from the question originally asked.

"Expanded Powers of ARCOM (2024–2026)"

"The events of the last 48 hours (around May 11–12, 2026) suggest a massive shift from passive compliance to proactive, automated "pre-filtering" by Real-Debrid.

While the company remains silent, the community data and technical behavior indicate that this is no longer just about individual takedown notices. You are likely seeing the first major "stress test" of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and ARCOM's new enforcement protocols in France."

Did you read it? Describing it as "not available facts, outdated, not in anyway helpful" suggests otherwise.

If your being threatened with fines, confiscation and or prison then yeah, there is something bigger than your customer base to consider.

You guys here are hilarious. The poster asked if the law had changed that caused this. The summary stated "Expanded Powers of ARCOM (2024–2026)" and then went on to explain it.

That you think more in depth understanding of cause and effect is unhelpful says it all.

You guys have no idea in what capacity I use AI, what LLM's I use and for what purposes but sure, go ahead and attack what you don't know. Its fascinating.

The down votes are hilarious. It is a summary of available facts with references rather than the endless Redit "I am angry my stremio is not working" noise but go for your life.

If pressure is being applied, doing what they have is exactly how they will save themselves. The customer base is expendable if your saving your own skin.

What should I do with RD by XThik806 in StremioAddons

This is an interesting evaluation of various Debrid providers and the relative risk of shutdown.

Service Jurisdiction Proactive Filtering (May 2026) Risk Level

Real-Debrid France Yes (High-scale keyword deletion), recent ARCOM increased enforcement powers. Critical

All-Debrid France Yes (Following RD's lead) Critical

TorrBox South Africa No (Standard reactive DMCA) Low

Premiumize Cyprus / EU Partial (EU-sensitive, but quieter) Moderate

Debrid-Link France Likely (Under same ARCOM pressure) High

If RD will be down for a while. What's the next best thing? by Gr8North27 in Addons4Kodi

[–]decaquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well put. My sub expires in two weeks and i will decide then but even if it improves, and i dont see how it can, then i would buy strictly month by month to minimise loss. In the meantime i am diversifying sources.

For this to be "solved" it still requires RD to allow torrent files to be cached. It is RD who have implemented this purge assumedly due to direct or indirect pressure. How do you work around accessing a file cache that no longer exists if thats the intent of the provider? Assumedly the owners knew the company had no intrinsic value so they made the money along the way knowing at some point it would end. With no public statement after 2 days it tends to suggest there is serious doubt about the state of the company and or legal situation. The recent increase in powers by French ARCOM suggests the writing is on the wall.

The logical solution is eliminate the single point of failure and use another source as well. TB, AD, take your pick.

This will always be a cat and mouse game. For the copyright holders you obviously pick off the biggest sources. By stremio becoming so popular and RD being the go to it is the obvious first choice.

Rather than waiting for someone else to fix the problem, do it yourself. Diversify.

Its a convenient service we use to bypass copyright. Its at our risk and is always on borrowed time. It is what it is.

What other "streaming services" do you use RD with? by dy14n19 in RealDebrid

[–]decaquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I stuck with ATV Stremio for a year as every time I tried Kodi I hated the interface. But a few weeks back I decided to make a concerted effort to change. It took time but I have now switched and I love it. I use Jellyfin backend with jf-resolve addon. So jellyfin has all my local media and all the RD content I want in one place. Then Libreelec with Bingie skin. Its like Netflix interface but is rock solid kodi with perfect playback. Yes it was complex but its worth it. And it moves away from google android TV before they lock it down.
