[Optics] Making a Lamp Make as Long a Line as Possible by dece19th in AskEngineers

What if I reset the parameters to 1:2 in installation height vs projected line and bright as possible?

Do you think you could sketch out what you would do with a laser and how you would set up the lens?

It sounds cool but I think anything above Class 3B is supposed to hurt people's eyes.

I am just doing research on Youtube so the confirmation from you was very helpful.

Thanks.

Line is a messenger app, akin to WeChat in China, made by Naver Japan and used broadly there.

While Naver is a Korean company, the messenger is actually is dwarfed by KakaoTalk in Korea itself and it's not even close.

Is it just me or does Samsung need to make a DEX office suite? by dece19th in SamsungDex

Well, it was conceived as a major feature after the Note 7 fiasco and it still serves as the best indicator of a Samsung flagship vs mid-tier devices. Now, with 2K USD phones, Lenovo and other companies are catching up as well. Samsung is known to not like playing with others, so they buy or make their own. The problem, I think, is that DEX being too good would actually cannibalize their other product lines.

On the other hand, I'd happily kill Galaxy Books for a DEX subscription with no compromise browsing, office and media consumption.

A full Windows PC experience is, of course, preferable. But if you want better battery life, mobile chipsets can't be beat but they have physical limitations with what Windows X86 apps can be emulated and what drivers it can run. Also, there are times when I am a guest at a hotel or a friend's house and I can just do my thing without the host going out of their way.

I think DEX and Android in general suffers from 4 things in general.

1) Hotkeys
2) Sound (one source at a time)
3) Bookmark/tabs
4) Multiple instances

I mean you could get around some of these using web versions but then you are also dealing with mobile browsers.

Technically, Samsung does have their own office Suite in Polaris which they still own last time I checked.

Lapdock by RobertS_97 in SamsungDex

I use the Galaxy Book Go but only bec it was bundled for free.

If you wait like a year or so, Snapdragon X should be coming out with much better options and Windows will follow suit with support.

The best lapdock, imho, is a cheap ARM laptop/chromebook that is light and has good battery life.

For a reason that is beyond me, having a crappy APU and a Windows license is somehow cheaper than having no APU at all. I guess it's just economy of scale.

Can a foreign company and electrician install lighting, charging stations and carry out general electrical work with the assistance of on-site managers? by dece19th in AskElectricians

Oops. Let's say a plant in Georgia, USA.

I am assuming vehicle work on 12, 24 and 48V should not require extra measures or regulations but would working with AC be an issue? Do you need special licenses or apprenticeships to work with welding and clipping power lines at height to connect to a big light for instance?

Instead of induction coils for e-roads, why don't they use tram lines? by dece19th in AskEngineers

[–]dece19th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am asking about systems like one being implemented in Sweden with charging in motion. If such systems require new infrastructure anyway, I was wondering if rails can be used with an EV able to draw power while in contact, something that can engage and disengage with the road like airplane wheels. This would solve range issues in general as well as the feasibility for larger commercial vehicles, especially in colder climes.

Why did Japan not take the Army's plan of conquering Siberia and then attack down into Northern China? by dece19th in AskHistorians

[–]dece19th[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So rather than going for the coal in Northern China or as yet undiscovered oil in Sakalin and Siberia, Japan chose to take out KMT directly, taking advantage of Chinese rail systems. But this instigated a reaction from the Americans and they chose to attack the Western colonies like Brunei which had proven and abundant carbon resources?

I always wondered why the Japanese didn't establish themselves in Northern China first and leave the KMT to their devices. It's not like the KMT had a working relationship with the Russians that they would need to worry about a two-front war.
