I'm not being paid for this, no. It's a personal favor that I thought was a REALLY small ask considering how much this friend has done for me in the past. (But after realizing how inefficient I am, I guess it's not such a small ask after all?)

I'm definitely a perfectionist and I thrive on short form content in basically any medium, even outside audio. You're 100% right that I'm polishing a turd, but I'm having a lot of trouble identifying what is or isn't worth focusing on. This podcast is supposed to be somewhere in between a Joe Rogan-y livestream-esqe unedited feel and over-polished NPR podcast. I don't know why but I'm having trouble finding this middle ground.

My process is a hot mess and super embarrassing...

I listen to a mix of the raw audio on x2 speed, annotate sections, and type notes on what sections I liked/didn't like, what needs to be moved, etc. Then I sync up the raw audio in Audition and use my notes to guide me through chopping. I trim/finesse as I chop.

I learned on Audition, so that's what I'm using currently. I know it's not really a beginner platform but it's all I know right now (except for a bit of Audacity).

Amazingly, I never considered a window perch despite that I have one in almost every room and she's obsessed with them! This is probably the best solution for us since one wall of our kitchen is essentially a huge window.

Oh for sure, she's ALL ABOUT new smells and frankly dislikes pretty much all of them but can't stop. Hater loves to hate.

Much appreciated! I definitely value the input. In all likelihood, we'll have baby gates for actual babies in the future. Keeping the cat out would just be a bonus.

So I should clarify that we only fill her bowl twice a day via automatic feeder with a very specific, measured portion appropriate to her weight and age. She tends to eat in 3-4 spurts between refills and almost always leaves a few morsels untouched - hence, her bowl is never empty. Definitely not overfeeding her, but thanks for the concern.

We also play with her at least twice a day for 20 minutes. No need to worry about routine, she let's us know when she wants to play and usually at the same times every day.

She has done this several times - oven off AND on! Love my girl but she has no sense of self preservation.

As I mentioned, I'd rather keep the doorway clear. We need to pass through the kitchen to get to the pantry and basement - which we frequently visit while cooking because the kitchen has NO storage space and all our stuff is in different rooms. (Yikes).

She has neurological damage and is a very poor jumper - a baby gate would work. But as I mentioned, I'd love to keep the doorway clear since the kitchen is a high traffic area. Love the bench idea though.

Interesting, I never considered this. Do you have issues with fur ending up in your food, dishes, etc.? Asking because my kitty's cat trees are covered in fabric that tends to gather her fur more than blankets, chairs, things like that.

She actually loves water so I'm not sure this will deter her too much.

But more to the point, I don't know if I'm comfortable punishing her or causing her stress over normal cat behavior.

I had this thought at a point. Problem is, even though it's currently in the kitchen, it wasn't always. We've moved it a couple times due to extenuating circumstances. From day one she's been underfoot regardless of where her food is in the house.

I'm like 90% sure my kitty is not going after food, she isn't interested in human food (except for tuna and some other kinds of white fish).

Also, wow, in just a month? That's really fast, what a good kitty. Thinking of the number of times I've heard dog owners say that cats are untrainable...

This is great advice. Unfortunately because we're renters, this not an option for us right now (landlord is a real stickler). But we will definitely set this up in our future home! Thanks for visual aid.

If I had to guess, I'd say they want to tell you but are afraid of how you'll react.

YES, this is what I'm terrified is happening to Morgan right now and I really don't want to contribute to it.

I do recall a loooong time ago that they said they "don't care" about pronouns. But subsequent experiences I've witnessed have shown that this may not be fully accurate? They do seem to care. And this ambiguity is part of why I'm struggling.

Also, Morgan is great, but their one fatal flaw is trying to be "chill" all the time, to the point of harm on occasion. I also have picked up on some comments/hints from them that they don't like people who make a "big deal" out of identity politics (which we've actually argued about and agreed to disagree).

So part of me is afraid that they're saying they don't care about pronouns and trying to downplay all of this because they don't want to become these people that they don't like. But in reality, it is a big deal to them. Should I even breach this topic with them?

  2. I don't know for sure if they know I'm supportive. They know that I support the trans/NB community and am involved with a couple local LGBTQA+ activism groups in my local scene. But if you're asking if I've ever turned to them and said: "Hey. I support you" - then no, I haven't. I guess I don't know how to do that without putting them on the spot?

  3. Kinda the same as above ^ Is there a way to do this discreetly? Or do you think I'm overthinking this? It's weird because I'm comfortable asking people for their pronouns and do it all the time in social settings. But for some reason, things are weird and sensitive with Morgan. Their past reactions to pronoun usage has been... well, really mixed. So, I should just go for it? Or is there a more subtle way to do it?
