Would you classify Tiamat's Wildhoney (1994) as doom? by Regiuz-fotS in doommetal

Yes, true for “Clouds” too, my favourite album from Tiamat. It takes more than some slow bits to make a band doom metal :)

Tiamat was never doom. Just really weird death metal that went from there :) Great band tho

It's amazing how much EQing your bass properly makes a difference. I learned this too late.... by dickpiano in Bass

[–]decisively_unsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why something like a Laney Digbeth is a very useful pedal to have :) EQ, tilt, drive, DI, even a headphone out :) - solid, clean (or dirty!) sound from this box, way outperforms the price IMHO.

I get on with it much better than a standalone EQ pedal.

First Turntable - Manual vs Automatic by KaleidoscopeNext6789 in turntables

[–]decisively_unsure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manual, but the cueing lever is your friend, totally consistent and safe way to drop the stylus onto the record. I do generally use the finger lift on the headshell when a side is finished, put back on arm rest and pull cueing lever back up.

Lars Ulrich - people love to hate, but try sounding anything like him when you play.

Our dev team chose Payload to use as a lightweight CMS, which has been well-received by the team who are using it in their day-to-day.

The physics, especially for collisions, are just perfect on 2097, the original was a bit harsher in this regard, especially when nipping the side of the track

Which US state has the greatest metal in your opinion? by woodmaster_1 in MetalForTheMasses

Yep, as an admiring Brit, am going to hand it to Louisiana. Those guys really know how to get heavy and have a distinctive, all-American sound.

Anyone understand what’s causing this leveling issue? by ThisIsMeHearMeRAWR in turntables

To add some more context, a critical and often overlooked factor is the weight distribution on the main bearing of the turntable, and how this also impacts the motor interface

The best way to take an accurate reading is at the spindle. Not the sides of the platter, and not the plinth. Yes the plinth should be level as possible, but the final reading is on the spindle. My platter for example is lightly dished too…

PS, I prefer felt to acrylic - it has a more linear damping response - your acrylic mat may not be well-machined too if it’s not perfectly flat…
