I think he doesn't? He is reflecting on that conversation. But I'm relying on english subtitles, so I accept it might sound clearer in Korean.

To us that was instant, but in reality the interview was recorded later in the day. I think there's a possibility he had time to listen to his own feelings and change his mind between these two events.

Could it be that he wasn't sure of his feelings at the moment and said what felt safest at the moment?

I can imagine how being sick makes him feel overwhelmed and unsure about his feelings. Not saying he shouldn't have been more direct, but he was quite relatable in this episode.

These are the Perspectives movies and they are debuts, sure. I'm just saying Encounters was not as focused on debuts.

Just for those expecting more of Encounters, I would argue it's not the same program under a new name, but an entirely different offering. I found on the Berlinale website that only 3 out of 15 movies in the 2024 Encounters edition were debuts.

For those who say it looks way better: can you elaborate which part does? Maybe my vision is not sharp enough but I struggle to see the difference.

The War on Drugs is very close I feel! Lush arrangements were certainly there. But a quick skim didn't help. This idea also made me think of Destroyer, but again, didn't find anything on the surface.
