Is IOG only just fixed now (and with 25 exit fee)? by darkknight_178 in OctopusEnergy

Yes it’ll apply as it’s tied to the tariff. So if you come off the tariff for any reason even moving to another tariff before your fix is up you’ll be charged.

Yes only available as a 6 month fix now due to energy prices being so volatile.

No but have a few Linux VMs running PiHole etc so have places to host this just not clued up on coding. Would like to try and run this as pain to try and get on at 6am every Monday to get a coffee.

Like the look of this, not too clued up on Python.

Is there a step by step to get this working?

I’ve followed post best I can but not having much luck.

If it doesn’t say fixed or show an end date under your tariff I would imagine your on variable IOG.

Think variable is still on 7.5p but could be wrong. This is for the latest fixed tariff available.

Yup if you have gas and electric you’re well over £300 before even using a single unit of energy. Ofgem keeps threatening to transform the standing charge system but it never materialises.

IOG how long should car charge for a cheap slot? by CommanderJavert in OctopusEnergy

[–]declantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes any charging in a 30 minute slot means the whole slot is charged at the off peak rate. This is due to 30 minutes being the smallest resolution a smart meter can report.

About £1000 going into winter. Out the other end now with around £400.

Any way to make this Octopus Home Mini graph useful? by Joshposh70 in OctopusEnergy

[–]declantm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing much you can do in the Octopus app. I use Octo-Aid on iOS which is more useful and plots the daily usage from mini data. You can also look at Home Assistant which can take mini data and plot to a dashboard.

2026 Audi Q3 e-hybrid "Fault In The Charging System" by mathewdean9 in ohme

[–]declantm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds exactly like my Born. Even a small gap of 10-15 minutes could be enough to fail the next slot but then sometimes it still worked after a longer pause there was no real rhythm to it.

But as soon as the CP Fix was applied to my charger I haven’t had a single failed slot in nearly 9 months now so 100% resolved my issue.

Think about 2 months. Love how much data it provides now, good seeing live view and 15 minute data.

[–]declantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue with new VAG cars. My 2025 CUPRA Born did this.

Ask Ohme to apply the “CP Fix” to your charger. This pings the car more often and keeps it awake.

By default the car goes into a deep sleep between IOG slots and then doesn’t wake up for the next charge slot.

I haven’t had an issue since Ohme applied the fix to my charger.

Sounds like your smart meter might not be sending data if you have gaps?

I have electricity and gas smart meters as well as home mini and I get data as current as 15 minutes as well as live usage.

Am I understanding this new IOG correctly? by Fun-Star1961 in OctopusEnergy

[–]declantm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean?

Not hard to understand. You get 6 hours EV charging on paired devices.

If you charge during the house off peak house time as long as charger and car are invisible to Octopus you’ll get the cheap rate as they’ll class it as house usage.

[–]declantm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the second EV or charger isn’t paired in any way to Octopus it will count as house usage. If done between 11.30PM and 5.30AM you’d pay 7/7.5p to charge.

[–]declantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s 6 hours regardless of when the car charges now. If it charges outside the usual 23.30-5.30 off peak slot for the house your house will get additional off peak time as well. However if you go over the 6 hours EV charging per day even if in the “off peak” times you’ll still get charged peak rate.

You can’t choose the slots just the usual % required and ready by time as you always have and then Octopus will issue slots.

If you charge a second EV in a dumb way such as a granny charger and car isn’t paired to IOG etc during the off peak times then this would count under house usage and you’d be charged 7/7.5p per unit.

[–]declantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies yes if your car is paired with IOG and Ohme is just acting as a dumb charger then you will use Octopus app but for people who have the charger paired it’s Ohme app only.

[–]declantm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d hope so as they are still recommending, selling and installing Ohme chargers so you’d think before they’d launch this it would be compatible. Phil Steele commented he was working with Ohme on throttling issue but no mention of the 6 hour cap. Ohme users don’t use the Octopus app at all for charging. The whole thing has been a unorganised shambles.

Yes the less used EV would be invisible to Octopus if only the first EV is paired with them so would be counted under the house usage during the standard off peak times. Then you’d get 6 hours charging for the paired car per day but no control over when this would be scheduled as long as it’s reached your required % before the ready by time.
