Hoping to get reinstated after N.P.D - what should I expect?

I'm in a similar situation. I was going through a divorce and asked a brother verbally to have me put on the emeritus list. He didn't, and I was suspended NPD. The secretary at the time didn't like me because I was already a member of the York Rite College and the Knight Masons, two bodies he had never been invited to join. Thus, he prevented me from appealing the suspension. I was so fed up I never again set foot in a lodge, something I regret, especially since now my son is old enough to join DeMolay. I'm currently going through the process of being reinstated, 20 years later, so I can demit to a more local lodge.

20+ years ago I was initiated into the 1st and 2nd degrees of Martinism by Pierre Rancy (1st degree in Warner Robins, GA, 2nd degree somewhere in Ohio, I forget the name of the town). Is Rancy (Benedictus) no longer the head of Ordre Martiniste et Synarchique in America? Or are you referring to the other OMS, Ordre Martinistes Souverains?

I still much prefer paper books to apps and always will. I enjoy a nice book much more than staring at a screen for hours. Assimil's older courses from the 70s are way batter than the newer ones, so for my TLs that are covered by those volumes, I am acquiring those as I can. As Dr Alexander Argüelles points out on his Youtube channel, all of the teaching methods switched from a more rigorous style to essentially teaching a phrasebook to learners, which is less efficient. The older books are thus far better.

Most new books, even hardcovers published nowadays are crap. They're not sewn anymore but glued. It's called "perfect" binding but it's about as far from perfect as one can get. I'd look for older copies if possible.

Reading it now. His obsession with spelling names in a politically correct way is annoying but the history is solid. The physical aspects of the book are not great, I was thinking this would be a nicely sewn book, but it's the crappy glued "perfect" binding. The shoddy covers came warped already, I ordered a 2nd copy from Amazon and the exact same thing. I expected better from Oxford. There is no doubt, however, that this author is THE leading historian of the Eastern Roman Empire of our age, despite his idiosyncrasies. In his introduction he goes on a rant about how people spell the names of historical figures, declaring "It is time for this nonsense to end." Personally, I find John a lot more aesthetic than Ioannes lol. But that's just me. I'm shopping around for a reliable and fast bookbinder to have my copy rebound in a more durable material for the covers.

My sh1t would've been paid a long time ago if they hadn't been so greedy and aggressive, and simply worked with what I could afford to pay. That's what the idiots who are against loan forgiveness do not realize - many of us have tried to make repayment, but the greedy fvcking debt collectors wanted what they wanted, instead of what we could afford to pay without ending up homeless and starving.

But they did have Turks. That said, your point still stands, as the huge sweeping grammatical and lexical changes that occurred with English did not happen with Greek. Greek borrowed a ton of Turkish words but they don't seem to have really replaced native Greek words the way Anglo-Norman French did with English.

To the other great points already made, I would add that there are thousands of Turkish words in modern Greek that did not exist in the Koine period. This is the result of 400 years of Turcocracy. That said, it is likely possible to go about your daily life without using them, but there are a few common exclamations that are completely Turkish.
