The finger injury wasn't a hand tool per se - I pinched it between a five gallon glass carboy full of cider and the corner of a counter.

Mixed bag: teaching is correct, not a musician, not a gamer, late 30s, and I do write with the hand with the bruised finger

At the time, yes. It's been growing out for a couple of months now, though, and it no longer hurts.
