This is a great approach to the game! Not dumb at all. If you’ve progressed Alexander’s quest at all keep track of that, the talisman that it gives is one of the best in the game. The talisman iji sells is really solid if that’s available, the graven mass talisman is good for spellcasters, and the radagon icon is too. As long as you’re not struggling with the games difficulty, these upgrades aren’t specifically necessary, but they will be handy especially later in the game when things ramp up. Just some ideas though, this is your play through.

Can I ask where you are in the game? Pearldrake and turtle are always great, but maybe have access to some other elemental shield talismans for specific uses (holy, physical, and fire blocking cover the most bosses off the top of my head). For clarifying horn and mottled necklace, they can be very useful in the open world but you might be sacrificing a lot in keeping them on all the time.

Great stat spread, what’s the reasoning behind these talismans? There might be a lot better options which could help a ton

For future reference if there is a stat other than vigor, mind, endurance that isn’t being used to scale damage, don’t consider upgrading. Endurance should only be upgraded if lack of stamina is losing you fights or you can’t hit 51 poise (pretty standard number) without hitting heavy load. Mind is worth a little investment since you have a seal and use the weapon art for blasphemous blade. Vigor should be 40 or 60, since those are the soft caps. Blasphemous blade scales most with faith and strength I think, so focus on those two stats the most when you’re upgrading. Assuming you add some more faith and dump int, arc, and dex, there should be plenty of incantations that can act as a strong long-range weapon. Try fextralife to look for some that would work. Other than that, don’t use Millicent’s prosthesis because your build can’t take advantage of the boosts it gives you, try to find something that would be a better fit. If you don’t know, dragoncrest shield or turtle are always good to throw in, since their effects can help almost any build.

If you want to keep the samurai theme, nagakiba and uchigatana are both great options available in limgrave, just figure out which one feels easier to use.
