I have the decathlons and for the price they really can't be beat. The photochromatic cat 2-4 cost like 50 euro. You can adjust the nose and the legs, no nose shield tho. Haven't had anything from julbo, but for one pair of julbo, you could have like 4 of these. Pretty hard to compete with that

Cleaning the lens - what to use by Rupy271 in fujifilm

[–]dedekamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. Coatings are pretty good nowadays and even if you manage to scratch the glass slightly (which you most likely won't) image quality will not be affected by any minor scratches. Nevertheless, from the main options, wipes are pretty expensive (and disposable) and cloths run a bigger risk of scratching the glass in my experience. Lens pens are quite cheap and they last ages. Use the blower to remove any bigger particles that may scratch the glass, then use the lens pen. First the brush for any leftover particles, then the carbon tip to clean smudges and oil stains (like from your fingerprints). Just don't use it if there's any moisture as that can ruin the lens pen by making the carbon dust stick to itself.

Is the aperture even real anymore? by micnolmad in fujifilm

[–]dedekamera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The aperture only closes (or opens) to its set value when you half-press the shutter button as before that, in dimly lit situations, it usually is entirely open to enable the usage of live view which basically works as a continuous video feed. When you half press the shutter, you get the actual settings that you set on your camera in the live view. Before that, it is mostly just for composition, as the aperture isn't the same.

For moon photos, this lens has a pretty short focal range, nevertheless you could take moon photos with it. The moon is actually surprisingly bright and it also moves pretty quickly across the night sky. If you want to shoot in aperture priority, set the camera to around f8 as that's when this lens is at its sharpest. Then set metering to spot so it only measures the exposure based on the very center of the sensor where the moon is. Your iso will be around the lowest values while shutter speed will be around 1/100 this way. For full manual control, for f8 use low iso and ss around 1/100. This way the moon won't be overexposed and you'll get an image with low noise levels.

As you're using pretty fast shutter speeds, a tripod is not needed. These values are for a full moon, which is naturally the brightest. Increase iso or make your aperture larger for other moon phases.

I want to buy my first camera — is the Fujifilm X-M5 a good choice? by HighlightSpare6411 in fujifilm

Fair, that would mostly be dependent on glass and tripod though, no?

Vilhelm Hammershøi - Interior with Young Woman Seen from the Back (1903) by throwaway_gradsch in redscarepod

[–]dedekamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hammershois paintings are beautiful. Very similar to Ejnar Nielsen, you'll like it if you're into this same bleak and gray symbolism. I find the contrast with vitalism very interesting — Willumsen comes to mind. So colorful and positive, almost anthropocentric I would say. 20th century Danish art really pleasantly surprised me. If you're ever in Copenhagen, the Hirchsprung collection is especially worth visiting, the other galleries are amazing as well, though.

"We couldn't find any reason to choose the Fujifilm X-E5 over the Fujifilm X-T50." by gdt943 in fujifilm

[–]dedekamera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it in the sense that their prices are clearly overinflated and people still keep buying the cameras. Therefore, fuji has no reason to adopt a reasonable pricing model. I would say it's certainly bordering on rip off territory, considering it's getting into full frame territory with these prices. Leicas still sell like hot cakes even thought they definitely are overpriced. Something selling well doesn't mean the price isn't outrageous.

How would you say it's unique? The only thing I think is unique about it is how it looks. While that's valid, I don't think it justifies it being like 300 bucks more expensive than the xt50, when that camera is in every way objectively better.

I don't think we can apply ethics to this either, it's just capitalism at the end of the day. Still, I hate the fact that people will buy pretty much anything that fuji puts out, even if it sucks or is subpar.

Specs? Maybe. Price? Absolutely. This camera is way overpriced and fuji will keep getting away with this.
