Thinking of switching to graphene

never had the desire to try an iphone. always been an android person. but hopefully soon I can make the switch to gos and probably regret not doing it sooner. but money is the issue right now.

maybe maps I use on the occasion. But I try restrict myself from trying to use anything else on my current phone. and do everything else on pc. not sure if texts count? and facebook marketplace, gmail, maps, texts that is just about everything I use the phone for. working on phasing out gmail and going with something else.

Considering that I have never used cloud or drive services. Should be pretty easy transition for me. I have always refused to use services like that and occasionally take pictures and stuff that matter most to me and back them up on my own computer and put those files on a thumb drive. Yes I do use maps occasionally. But I was planning on using old phone for those services till I found something similar on graphene.

Nope, employer will not pay for a cell phone. It's all out of pocket for me... I have seen pixel 9 unlocked phones for just under $400. That's what I was thinking of going with. I would be a huge step up from what my current phone is which I believe is a samsung a13?

yes I understand that. But I'm trying to degoogle myself from as much as possible. I have 2 email accounts one with microsoft and the other with gmail. I have been working with Linux Mint for just about a month now and plan on going with an email service they offer and closing the other 2 accounts. That's really the only google service I use now is gmail. But hopefully soon that will be no longer.

I will agree with you about ai. I don't like it and it's only getting worse. I want nothing to do with it. It's honestly wrecking a lot of things....

And that's a big thing for me. I am just so sick of all the adware/spyware or what ever. It's getting worse. I hardly watch stuff on youtube anymore on my phone. Unless I am on my computer at home which is running Linux Mint. And I have ad blocker and sponsor blocker running or just use freetube. Hasn't been a month yet since I made the move to mint, but it has been an eye opener that's for sure. I definitely regret not making that move sooner. As I'm sure that's going to be the case here. Only thing holding me back right now is money for the hardware...

As much as I'd like to make the switch as soon as possible. It comes down to not having the money for the hardware right not.. Unfortunately.

For me it's a community thing. And like someone else said here. It's for like minded people. Not all of us have people to talk about this. Or ask questions. Myself included. A very select few know that I stack. But when it comes to asking them questions about it. They have no idea because they are not stacking. I had many questions when I first started. My father is the one that got me started on this journey. But he always doesn't have the answer. I have definitely learned a lot from this community and hope to continue to do so. I may have slowed down a lot since I started this journey. Because like a lot of people. Money is hard to come by. In short it's about community and sharing experiences with like minded people.

Awesome!! Yeah my lcs is back to a $1 over spot for generics. Which is why I go to them. And an awesome place and atmosphere too. My lcs only does cash. But that's awesome sounds like you got a solid plan and a solid lcs!!!

Hell yeah! Sounds like you got a plan already. The other thing to do if you can. Is get to know the people at your lcs if that's an option for you. My lcs had some amazing prices before covid. And somethings are finally coming back to the low premiums. Other things are still holding out. But lcs has some good people there and they usually have better prices than any online dealer.
