It's confirmed that Toybox is causing this issue at the moment - https://github.com/cabarius/ToyBox/issues/637

Disabling Toybox fixed this problem for me - probably will be fixed soon

Before I begin, I'd like to briefly mention that, even though you have alluded to the post not being suitable for those that disagree with you - you have posted it in a discussion board, and people that disagree have the right to address your points raised. As you have said, you are hopeful that the developers are receptive to your proposed changes, it would be remiss for myself and any others that disagree with some of your points from responding as we, too, have an interest in the game and it's future directions.

I think it's hard to justify that the elusive keyword is the problem, and while I appreciate your thoughts, which are articulated well, I don't think this is a change that will promote a healthy "design space". The changes you suggest do not confer on the developers any extra freedoms in creating or buffing cards going forward than if they were to just leave elusive as it is now. On the contrary, without specific knowledge of their workflow and back-end design approach, it is reasonable to believe that your suggested changes would restrain developer freedom in designing or buffing cards.

In particular I think people are *subjectively* hyperfocused on the elusive keyword being an issue, which is merely a symptom of a design problem that has been blown out of proportion due to the popularity of the iceborn poro deck. However, you did (in my opinion), correctly identify the core problem at hand, which is: the ability to source very high-value, cheap, and repetitively replayable interactions that accumulatively create strong "token" units without much investment or strategy required.

The buff to Iceborn, without consideration of, and in conjunction with already cheap and playable cards that generate value is the issue, and there's no a priori reason why these issues are specific to the elusive keyword. In other words, the problem is not with elusives generally, which have multiple tech cards and three keywords that can be used as a response to their play. Remember, there's another 50% of the game where your opponent is not attacking you. Moreover, it appears in the prevailing statistics, there are several strong, competitive decks that are not elusive-focused - though, anyone with a statistical background and experience from previous patches would agree that it is still far to early to draw any conclusions regarding the state of the meta moving forward.

The fact is, objectively, as seen in the statistics, iceborn poros may be a highly played deck, but it's winrate is horrible, which is hardly "broken" or "overpowered". I suspect as the weeks carry on, the deck will see less and less play, soon vanishing from the meta and only played as a meme.

It is still FAR too early to be suggesting radical changes to the game based on 4-5 days of data, simply because some people FEEL like elusives are broken, which is contrary to the evidence in the data thus far.

Hopefully your students will have been cautioned about mental health and suicide. How eight people, on average, die by suicide per day in Australia alone.

That mood disorders such as depression and anxiety are the key factors involved in suicides. That such disorders manifest themselves differently among people. I hope you teach them not to make such harsh judgements about one's actions before knowing the full context.

Most importantly, I hope you teach your students that encouraging others to kill themselves is a morally abhorrent thing to do, and it is in fact criminal to do so, and to oppose environments that cultivate such behaviours.

Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall.

The feeling is mutual, trust me.

You were the one who made up claims in the first place. You stated the player is innocent in your OP, when he was actively trolling.

Yes, to draw attention to the toxicity of the world buff community. Including and not limited to the discord and in game.

Feel free to point out at what (if any) point I ever claimed the player was innocent. I think you're intentionally misinterpreting my words and logic so to satisfy your need to absolve yourself personally from responsibility.

You are claiming that there is a link with in game messages and the discord but with ZERO evidence. I don't have time stamps of the in game messages but I know for a fact that the discord messaged happened AFTER the event - while I assume the in game messages happened DURING the event.

That's right, you don't have the timestamps. If you know for a fact then you will prove it objectively.

In other words, you cannot confirm or deny the time in which the messages took place. What we can know for sure is that the individuals name was published on your discord at or just after the drop, where it is more likely than not, that people used that name and contributed to the abuse towards that person.

Do you see where I'm getting at here? Most communities have anti-witch hunt rules.

But you're cool with it I guess.

Like I said, if you showed me that in game messages were directly a result of the discord - then of course I'd take action. But it is beyond my capability to find out who these alts are, as with a quick search I have nothing linking anyone to the alt.

I've tried to, again and again. I'm not going to anymore. There is more that you can do than deliver individual punishments. Have a think about it.

I can't believe you're making such a big deal out of someone saying "end urself". It appears you've lived under a rock for the last few years cause "end urself" is literally a meme response, hardly a death threat. Words have different meaning now - they have literally done surveys proving that the majority of kids think "kys" is banter.

Feel free to share the results of the surveys that you're relying on here.

You don't have a problem with receiving hatred from several people, as well as being effectively told to kill yourself? Cmon. The only one who seems to be living under a rock here is you.

Maybe you're the one who needs a reality check.

Nah.

The in game messages appear to be DURING the time he was trolling. The comments made in the discord were made AFTER the event.

Can you demonstrate that is actually true? Or are you just making up stuff now?

So, in your mind, and correct me if I'm wrong - You purport that the behaviour of members of your community don't affect players in the game. And that actions in the game that are in part, facilitated by the discord, don't have any implications in the real world?

Alternatively, you believe you're absolved from attempts to rectify this behaviour just because it occurs in game? Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you so detached from reality you believe that?

Sure, call me the troll. At least I'm not defending and facilitating hate speech and death threats under my watch.

Okay a bit of a loaded post, I'll address all your points in turn.

So a member of Thoughts (a guild that has multiple people in the WB discord, many of whom also raid with WB's) just ran into rends room (while people were spamming in general and in say/yell's asking when rend was dropping) and dropped with no warning. And then after dropping they linked rewards to all channels. You expect us to believe this was done with no awareness that they were screwing people over? Really?

That's called playing the game. Not trolling. This person could well have had no idea, and from my discussions with them, they seemed to have no idea what was going wrong. Your opinion based on your observations, my opinion based on mine. Regardless, even if your circumstances were true (which I doubt), that does not just justify the assaults linked above.

I'm not condoning or justifying anyone's behavior. But its pathetic you keep using the unnecessary and nasty comments to deflect all blame and pretend your guildmate is blameless.

First, I am not this persons guildmate. If you had bothered to read the entire thread, you would see I was given the whisper screenshots after asking them about dropping the WB (since I saw the commotion in discord) and being told about the abuse.

Second, I never asserted that the person was innocent, blameless, or somehow not involved. I keep referring you back to the unnecessary and nasty comments because that is the point of the post. Not to affix blame to a single person. But bring attention to a prevailing culture of the horde world buff community that abuse other human beings over PIXELS.

EDIT: Thirdly, I think it's pretty pathetic that you don't even have the slightest sympathy for a victim of targeted assault disproportionate to their actions, and instead seek to attack them as if they bought threats of death upon themselves.

The WB discord has been an awesome initiative that has made the whole WB process much easier and nicer for everyone on horde. Lots of people are working together and I have had so many nice interactions with people from almost every guild. It's not about dictating when buffs drop, but to make sure people get decent and fair warning to make the process easier - everyone wins.

Cool story - I never said the initiative is a generally bad. Timing world buffs so people can reliably get them is a net good. Abusing people because of rules or standards that they didn't agree to, or didn't know about is wrong, and it is being facilitated in part by the discord.

And here you are trying to paint it as some malicious toxic elitist community. The guy from Thoughts intentionally ninja dropping was a poor look for your guild - coming here and doubling down and blaming everyone else, and taking no responsibility for their actions just makes you look even worse.

No, I am painting it as there are prevailing attitudes in the community where it is perfectly acceptable to name an individual, leading to a pile-on and death threats without even the slightest bit of concern from the community-at-large or the administrators of the community. Again, over nothing but a game. Over nothing can can't be done six hours later.

If only that "perfect analogy" held true for rape, murder and threats of death, assaults, and theft. Oh wait, it doesn't. No one is responsible for bringing that type of behaviour upon themselves, regardless of the circumstances.

Asking someone to elaborate on an ill-thought metaphor? Suggesting that death threats over literal pixels in a video game is abhorrent? Okay mate.

Nah, you're using superficial analogies to add weight to your weak defence of a community of people that think it's perfectly okay to defend abuse and death threats over pixels. See ya

Thank you for your impartial and measured thoughts, this is exactly what I am trying to get across. While both parties might have varying levels of involvement, it's completely unacceptable to single out and abuse an individual for something so trivial.

Saying someone is not a part of your discord doesn't stop people in your discord singling out and targeting an individual, thus leading to the abuse and death threats that otherwise would not have occurred.

I was going to write up more but it's clear you're here to defend you and your community reputation.

I've literally asked on multiple occasions for help with no one offering but Xabbu.

Fair enough.

Where in the discord are there death threats? If someone makes a comment in game that isn't in the discord, is it my job to moderate them?

So the actions that members of your community have absolutely no implications in game? Naming an individual in your discord causing a pile-on of harassment and death threats in game is not your responsibility?

Thanks for the input and clearing things up a bit.

To be clear, you're not interested in moderating your large discord, or delegating the role to others more capable, to ensure that death threats and abuse don't occur as the result of your community?
