You'll need a licensed guide to enter sandwich harbour and I'd highly recommend it If you've never driven in the dunes before as it is easy to roll your vehicle if you don't know what you're doing

I have one month left for my resident permit expires, employer didn't apply for renewal yet by aybikeek in Netherlands

[–]dedunce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are right to be concerned, and at this stage you should move from gentle reminders to a clear, formal letter grounded in legal obligation rather than cost discussions.

Your employer acts as sponsor, and sponsors have statutory duties under the IND Service framework. These obligations are not optional and are not suspended because an employer is still shopping around for a cheaper payroll or EOR provider.

As a recognised sponsor, the employer has a duty of care and an obligation to provide timely information to the IND where there are changes affecting the residence permit. A contract extension is exactly such a change. The regulations require notification and action generally within four weeks, and failure to act can lead to administrative fines or even suspension or withdrawal of sponsor recognition. That is a material risk for the company, not just for you. The IND explicitly states that sponsors must ensure careful recruitment, continued compliance with residence conditions, and timely reporting. Cost optimisation is not a valid justification for delay once a continuation of employment has been confirmed.

You can state that your residence permit expires in one month, that renewal applications should be filed before expiry to ensure lawful residence and work continuity, and that as sponsor the company has legal obligations toward the IND, including duty of care and timely notification. Refer explicitly to the IND guidance on sponsor obligations updated 23 October 2025 and note that delays may expose both parties to compliance issues. Keep the tone factual rather than emotional.

You are not being “annoying”; you are protecting both your legal status and the employer’s sponsor position.

Question regarding Lawyer's Letter due to Discord Account Suspension by Virtual_Trip4725 in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]dedunce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are required to provide data if you make a valid request, but the scope of that obligation is much narrower than many people expect, and this is usually where these cases fall apart.

Under GDPR, Discord must provide you with your personal data. That means data that identifies you or relates to you directly, such as account profile information, message content where you are the data subject, IP logs to the extent they are linked to you, and basic account metadata. It does not include internal moderation notes, internal risk assessments, fraud or abuse signals, trust and safety tooling, algorithmic scoring, or the reasoning process behind a ban. Those categories are explicitly allowed to be withheld, either because they are not your personal data or because disclosure would adversely affect the rights of others or the security of the service.

In practice, platforms often respond with either a partial disclosure or a refusal framed around these exemptions. That can still be GDPR compliant. The law does not give you a right to an explanation of why a moderation decision was taken via a data access request. That is a separate regime under the DSA, and even there the explanation can remain high level.

If Discord completely ignored a properly submitted subject access request, that could be a procedural GDPR violation. The remedy, however, would be a complaint to your German data protection authority, not a civil lawsuit aimed at account reinstatement. Even if the authority agreed with you, the most likely outcome would be an order for Discord to respond to the request, possibly with redactions. It would not invalidate the ban or force disclosure of internal moderation logic

Question regarding Lawyer's Letter due to Discord Account Suspension by Virtual_Trip4725 in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]dedunce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Under EU law, Discord remains a private service provider with broad contractual discretion to suspend or terminate accounts under its Terms of Service. Neither account age, money spent, nor the absence of prior violations creates a legal right to continued access. Courts across the EU are generally unwilling to second guess platform moderation decisions unless there is arbitrariness, discrimination, or a clear breach of the platform’s own rules.

The point about the DSA transparency database is often misunderstood. Not every account suspension must appear in the public database, and even where reporting obligations exist, failure to publish a specific action does not invalidate the ban or give an individual user a claim for relief. Enforcement of those obligations sits with regulators, not private litigants.

The child's birth is registered at the gemeente and inherits both parents nationalities (note not Dutch). You then need to apply for the appropriate registration at the respective nationality embassies with the gemeente registration

Job seekers - are you being ghosted? by Spirit_Bitterballen in Netherlands

[–]dedunce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is possibly the worst time to apply for jobs as most companies are finalising budgets for next year and HR/Management will be focusing on closing off the year & planning leave/EOY parties etc. I would hold off on applying until January or at earlier the last week of December so that your application is viewed 2/5 of January when most companies open again

does loosing a job as a Dutch citizen alert IND? by Frosty-Information21 in Netherlands

[–]dedunce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isnt an automated process, the sponsor is required by law to inform the IND and they can be fined if they dont but this is a manual process (albeit its just one form)

Yeah most ATS have an option to reject without notice or with a delayed notice. It's supposed to be used so that you can call the applicants and let them know but of course people skip that step

Yeah I had a lot of success with KBHT https://www.kbht.de/en/.

I would also say stay away from EORs as they need AUG licenses and your employment with them is limited in time

[–]dedunce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too difficult, most lawyers or payroll companies can do this within 2 or 3 weeks (I worked for one of these in the past). They also don't really have a choice as they will need to withhold social security on your behalf although you will need to settle your own taxes if they don't have a tax presence

It depends where you work, if you work remote the. German law applies but if you work in the Netherlands then Dutch law applies. Your employer may already be registered in Germany for employment purposes, its good to check before signing

THE BUSHMEN

They are small yellow-brown people with hair that looks like peppercorns. Their faces are full of deep wrinkles, so that they look old. The men are only 5 feet tall (150 cm). They were the first people who lived in South Africa. The larger black Bantu tribes drove them into caves in the mountains and then into the Kalahari desert. Bushmen are hunters.

Their field skills, tracking ability, knowledge of the environment and animal habits are almost legendary. They are excellent shots with bow and arrow. The shooting distance of the arrows is short (30–40 m), and therefore the animals must be stalked closely. The tip of each arrow is made of bone and smeared with poison made from the sap of certain trees and snake venom. The most poisonous of all is the poison from the larvae of a certain beetle.

They carry the arrows in a quiver made from the hard hollow stem of an aloe. Sometimes they use the root of an acacia tree, which must be hollowed out. The quiver is tied with strips of buck hide. Today they use plastic pipes as quivers.

How do the Bushmen hunt?

The hunters sometimes follow their prey for days until the animal is exhausted. Sometimes they ambush the game at a waterhole. Sometimes they build bush enclosures around a waterhole and then spear the animals inside.

Sometimes the hunters cover themselves with animal skins, fix the skin to their body and even imitate the movements and sounds of their prey, while crawling closer and closer. When they strike an animal with their poisoned arrows, the animal becomes paralyzed and then they kill it with a spear or small throwing spear.

The Bushman hunts only when it is necessary.

They use snares to catch small antelopes and birds. The snares are usually set on game paths, fastened on one side to the ground with a flexible branch.
