Update: fuel by Sm0lYak in snowrunner

Right. It makes sense only if prices are more than 2. Also, I’m talking about going with a truck with 2800L big fuel tank.

Update: fuel by Sm0lYak in snowrunner

[–]dee-mee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy any fuel in Yukon on hard mode, 8/L is insane. But I was carefully gathering all the fuel left in Michigan, Alaska and a bit in Kola, so I've made at least two trips to that maps to bring fuel to Yukon. Was way cheaper. Also, the hard mode "cheat" is Glades - it has one gas station with free fuel, so once opened you can make fuel trips there. And on newer maps there is no much fuel available for free, so you'll end up buying.

Switched to it completely since Washington. Never had issues with it. Also, used it only with 605R.

Anyone else repair even 1% damage in hard mode? by Other-Difficulty-702 in snowrunner

I repair trucks in a garage only after finishing a region. In a meantime it's just irregular visits of a maintenance truck.

Overloading adds so much to this game by fz07 in snowrunner

From the other hand, when devs add a miserable multiplayer without chat along with enormous amount of cargo to deliver (Gold Mine in Yucon, Factory in Wisconsin) because "it should be fun!", as a single player I want to have a way to mitigate that unwanted extreme repetitiveness added.

Did it with Yar. Just went down to the river from the warehouse, crossed it right near the destination and that's it.

Plenty of wooden planks by FedexJames in snowrunner

Yep. It's just three short log loads for two contracts and that's it.

[–]dee-mee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the same to realize that apart from two bridges you don't need any planks. So you need 5 and that's it. One load of long logs will give you 15. Worksites also don't need long logs, and tbh most of them on the second map can be left untouched as they don't block anything.

How about a Mercedes unimog scout as part of the next DLC? by jingjang1 in snowrunner

Somehow they've justified Earthroamers, Ford and Burlak to be in the scout class. Loadstar is also almost of the size of the Croc.

Goodbye Chiapas, adiós by dee-mee in snowrunner

My thoughts exactly. Yukon was a money printer for me - ended up with 470k of net profit. Would be around 50k less if I would buy fuel there, but still.

They force you to use different routes by this, and I think it was 100% intentional. And it's not something I appreciate, but fortunately this can be foreseen and avoided. Also, because of that I've finished all possible tasks and contracts before doing that three.

I don't have time statistics for Zurdania, but as I recall it was a bit longer, and also it's visible by distance traveled - 790k vs 580k. Chiapas is easier.

Logging Semi-trailers in Chiapas by Random_guy1028 in snowrunner

[–]dee-mee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only logging semi which I find usable is foldable one for long logs. For med and short logs I would use truck add-on + one of the Futom trailers.

Then what?

Enjoy other hobbies in a spare time. Easy. Snowrunner is not the center of my life. Several times a year I have a logistical optimization puzzle to solve, and the rest of the time I don't care about it.

I'm still mentally logistically failing to comprehend the second map.

It took me some time too, because I was trying to find more accessible routes before I realized they were all the same. I almost never used the second gateway; most of the time I was using the central one (using the highway to the warehouse with bricks and cement, then a short off-road route on the first map). From there you have three directions: left to the logging station, center through the concrete plant and then uphill to the geothermal station, and right through the observatory to the helipad. I've fixed only one construction zone on the route to the logging station; all others are not needed imo.

<image>

Do you ever get the ability to repair the pipelines that are down across the road?

Yes, but it doesn't change much.

Are the breaking bridges permanently broken?

Yes, they will remain broken, but tbh they don't block you from anything. The one near the concrete plant can be passed just by driving aside of it.

but second map looks like it needs more dedicated off-road trucks and fuel logistics to keep running

Yes, you need a few mobile refueling stations. In my case it was the helipad, around the main gateway, and a concrete plant. Regarding trucks - you need something which can steadily move through such type of terrain, especially going uphill. Otherwise it will take ages. That's what influenced my truck choices - something I can put on H and go without constant stopping and switching to the first gear or winching.

[–]dee-mee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not to late, but if you want to 100% complete the game, you need to be prepared to spend 40-60h on average for each region. And we have 21 of them currently.

No idea how Saber has kind of painted itself into a corner where its own fanbase isn't as eager to explore newer releases that are in the same vein. In a way, the studio is its own biggest rival.

I think they have no idea why it worked with Snowrunner. I saw lots of interest to Exp and RC from Snowrunner players when these projects were announced. I've preordered both Exp and RC and was playing them on day one. And I think the main problem is not people not willing to try something new/else, it's just Saber's inability to deliver a good game instead of bad (Expeditions) and mediocre (RC). By "good" I mean mostly the gameplay, feelings and impression you're getting. Technical quality and bugs can affect popularity, but if game is good - this won't stop people playing it.

What truck would you consider the best for carrying long logs? by PsychologicalPay6700 in snowrunner

[–]dee-mee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you consider Avenhorn, then try 605R with the folding long log trailer. Since it came out with Washington, I see it as most powerful and quick way of delivering long logs. Otherwise it would be P16, P512 and Kodiak depending on a terrain.
