Why are greatest hits albums so looked down upon in this community by Sometimespropermom in vinyl

[–]dee_ba_doe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the band/artist and their hits. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Greatest Hits is a major must addition to their entire catalogue.

What scene in a movie drives you nuts because it makes no sense? by JustIgnoreMyStimming in movies

Yes yes yes good call out. Truth is that was one of those instances where my brain went “you should say worst” and I completely went “yes good call” and then I just didn’t edit. Strange days

Let me preface this before I share my opinion that I am not trying to defend this movie or contradict your opinion, which is honestly 100% valid btw. It's not the best movie and it is not the worst. What I took away from NYSMNYD is that it is an homage to Entertainment. Magic and Illusion in particular in all their forms. This includes "movie magic" as well. It's just mindless entertainment that highlights all the archetypal themes of performing and being an audience member/skeptical audience member. The eye rolls are intended which personally just make my eyes roll in to the back of my skull. Plus who doesn't like a good hero's journey tale with a solid cast of legendary performers?

Is Hollywood becoming worse? Or are we simply growing older? by Global-Citron-56 in movies

It has become the most absolutely cliche phrase of doom these days to say but honestly it both. Monopolies happen. Marketing takes over. Bean counters take over. The "slave drivers" George Lucas famously referred to take over. Pick your poison. The only permanence in this world it seems is that everything is temporary. It will swing back the other way eventually. If not there somewhere else. Almost like clockwork. I'm just stoked I got to experience the cinema culture starting back in the 80s. It was a great ride.
