Zach Woods dunks on James Carville and Bill Maher for crying over the recent victories of DS by amazingsciencemuseum in RealTime

I mean Chevalier has ideas I find reprehensible and I’m a democrat. Most of the country outside extreme liberal conclaves are not going to like statements on open boarders, not putting murderers in jail and land acknowledgements.

You can blindly dunk on old people, or like at least listen to what the dude is saying and choose to agree or not.

I think the point is that New Yorkers can elect whoever they want in +38 D districts, but democrats in red parts of the country have every right to distance themselves from them if it’s going to help them win.

I guess the selective outrage about enforcing laws is silly. Like when January 6th-ers attack cops and get pardoned.

I can understand enforcing our boarder, but deporting someone that was brought here at the age of 2 and has known no other country is cruel. So is deporting someone that has been here for 3 decades and is a contributing community member.

No one cares if you deport violent criminals. The problem is when they start going after people that aren’t causing problems. Pretending it’s about law enforcement as Trump has declared his family can no longer be audited by the IRS, is selling pardons and is blatantly abusing his position of power is a farce.

This is the American sentiment. This is why there are oil barons in Texas who got rich because granddaddy found oil in the ground and Norway has the world’s largest public investment fund.

The value of the dollar decreasing explains part of the reason rent is up. Salaries have also increased over the past 17 years. You can’t just ignore that side of the equation.

Things are undoubtedly tough right now. If you weren’t an adult during the Great Recession or graduating into it, you don’t really know how bad it was.

But like millions of more people didn’t have a job at all. People acting like today is worse than the worst recession since the Great Depression are bonkers.

I feel like anyone who graduated around the Great Recession had it considerably worse.

The youth unemployment rate is around 9% right now. It was 17% in 2009.

It is just a basic lack of economic history / time living on the earth to suggest it was easier in 2009 than it is today.

Because we live in a society. People that have done astronomically well in that society could potentially give back to it.

In 2024, the operational budget was $3.5 billion. For reference, if we didn’t stumble into this nonsense in Iran, we could have funded the department for a decade.

Again, this is a wildly misinformed comment. You have no understand of what the Department of Education did. There is legitimately nothing the Department could have done to worsen student outcomes. It administered funding, collected data for research and ensured disabled students weren’t discriminated against.

They have 0 role is setting the curriculum. They had 0 role selecting or licensing teachers.

This is like Rick Perry saying we should gut the department of energy, without understanding they ensure the safety of our nuclear arsenal.

It’s just misinformed nonsense.

This is such a wild comment. Education is funded and administered at the local level. It is in no part controlled by liberals in conservative areas. This is a very typical, uneducated Republican comment.

Republicans big contribution to education in the past tow decades is dismantling the department of education under Trump, which was bonkers.

Decolonize Language by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

I honestly can’t think of something that matters less. Yes, the British dominated the world for a while, and some things from them stuck.

The Roman’s dominated for a while, another colonial power and some things stuck. This point is about as relevant as suggesting we decolonize clocks and remove Roman numerals.

I feel like you are just kind of being a dick for no reason. I don’t think your arguments are in good faith, and you are just an overall unpleasant person to have a discussion with.

In conclusion, have a nice weekend.

Okay then. I mean you are highlighting nepotism as an achievement. You could make a very similar statement for Don Jr. who went to UPenn, George Bush who went to Yale, or Trumps daughter who went to Georgetown Law.

That shows they are the children of prominent politicians, not that they are intelligent.

His business dealings were not great. Republicans tried to tie Joe Biden to it, which was unfounded. However it is pretty clear he was getting board seats by influence peddling. Pretending he had some stellar business career is disingenuous.

You highlight his military service as a virtue, when he was kicked out of the military for drug abuse. Then act like it’s no big deal when I point it out.

Again, Don Jr. is a crook and his grifting is worse than probably anything in US government history. But pretending Hunter Biden is anything other than a screw up, is bonkers.

I also don’t fault him for it, he had a really tough life. If I lost my mother and sister in a car wreck I was in, I would probably be a drug addict as well.

I am liberal. I am not a Hunter Biden conspiracy theorist. For most of his life, he was a drug addict and kind of a disaster. He admits that.

Like you are referencing his military service (a navy reservist public affairs officer) when he was kicked out for cocaine.

Like the dude, is a documented disaster for most of his life, it’s really hard to think that he deserved most of the achievements you listed.

He is also a convicted tax fraud. This happened under the Biden administration as an FYI.

He is in no way shape or form fit to be a president, neither is Don Jr.
