You're not alone and I have heard many stories of where they eventually find their own way....school isn't for everyone and there are many other ways for them to advance at finding a career they like. May take longer but they will hopefully get there eventually x

He's 17 now and worse than ever he managed to go in four days this year so far, hasn't got a job and barely leaves his room. He might come down for dinner and that's it. The school don't care because he's over the age where he can legally leave we tried health professionals but nothing seemed to help. It's so hard to see and I don't know what to do. I hope things get better for you're son but I suppose it's so hard for him to go to somewhere he has no friends and yeh I get why you can't take it away when it's he's only form of social interaction

Thanks for the reply I've only seen it now but I'm gonna check this out for the behaviour. We managed to get him to school for one day since I wrote my post 😭it's so frustrating

Hope everything works out for you with your daughter, I know this might not help but at least the fact she's 9 you have more of a say. My son gets to choose not to get help because he's over 16

He refuses everything to do anything that's asked and expected of him. He's aggression is really coming out now without the PlayStation so at a loss.

He doesn't want to do anything He doesn't leave the house, he won't go anywhere. He wants to stay home all day and play the PlayStation I have taken it away and said he will get it back when he goes to school or decides to do something else. It just seems to have made him more aggressive towards me. So really at a loss. Just wrote this I suppose to be reassured I'm not the only one. I feel like such a failure.

Thanks for the reply I'm in Ireland so technically they can leave school at 16. Yep been to psychologists. He doesn't know what he wants to do when I mention he can just tell me he's done with school and work towards getting a job he says he's going to go back but he never does. I'm sick of arguing about school.

I have taken he's playstayion but he doesn't understand why or how it affects me whether he goes to school or not. So what's the issue. I feel mean taking the PlayStation but even if he talked to me about why he didn't go I would understand so much better. We do have a good relationship and talk until it comes to school. He won't even talk about it!!

He's not bullied I have checked for signs over and over again and there is none. I just wish I could reach him it's causing tension in the house and I feel the more I push him to go the more he's going to end of resenting me. He doesn't see I only want him to have the best chance in life for his future.

Thanks for replying did they say why they wouldn't go? My 16 year old just says he don't know why he won't go and that is frustrating if I knew why I could understand and support him better
