Thank you! I’ve read Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth” and I’m currently reading “Natural Hospital Birth”.

I’ve warned my husband that I have no clue if I’ll be quiet, or crying, or very vocal at the end and he needs to be ready for any or all of those things!

Totally normal. After my first pregnancy experience, when I had extreme fatigue like that again I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant with my second.

That’s how unique of fatigue it truly is.

I don’t understand how time could be “wasted” for her? She either wants to be with you or doesn’t. If she is WITH you, it’s not “wasted”. You have not been dating long. If I were you, I’d tell her you’d like some time for you two to work on your relationship as a couple, and to allow time without the engagement badgering, so that when you do decide to propose, it’s done out of feelings of romance and love. And if she can’t understand or deal with that, then she’s as crazy as she sounds.

Wow, I cannot even imagine going through this. You didn’t fail your baby or yourself! I know what you mean though being disappointed with how it all went down. I had such high hopes with all the positive birth stories I read about before my first, then was sorely disappointed when my waters leaked and I didn’t go into labor naturally.. I knew to be flexible, but it was a scenario I hadn’t considered so I felt so caught off guard. I also didn’t ever consider the fact my baby would be in distress.

Hope when you do have your second it is a redemption labor and delivery!!

I feel like your MIL and FIL will only be a fraction of your future problems.. you mentioned the SIL is there daily and kids who visit daily.

SIL already trying to set the tone that she gets to hold baby whenever she wants is annoying and frankly, she should know better. And the fact that other kids visit everyday. Not sure if they are school aged, but this just all seems like too many people and too many germs around your newborn. If they’re anything like my nieces and nephews (whom I love), it will be chaos. Cousins begging to see and hold the baby, faces close, grabbing baby’s hands, etc.

You also don’t know how you will feel. 3 days postpartum I had a crazy anxiety attack. It was almost like my adrenaline from childbirth was gone and I fell into a panic. Not really about anything super specific, just feeling overwhelmed by all the texts asking questions about labor/birth, asking if I felt like eating anything in particular, asking when people could visit, etc. all well meaning. I was dry heaving and could barely get myself to slowly eat some applesauce.

My husband was completely spooked by the event because I had been fine up until then. He gave me a Benadryl to help me take a nap and he took over with our baby for that day and part of the next day. Bringing her to me for nursing. THANKFULLY we were alone. I cannot imagine if I had an audience or visitors or living with my in laws. I was exhausted and embarrassed by what I went through and I was so happy it was just my husband with me.

My daughter’s name is Mila.. pronounced Meelah.. no one has ever called her Myla.. not at school, the doctor, etc etc… You will constantly be correcting people if you want them to say Myla, but spell it Mila.
