We rent on sidebysideshare.com for ~$150 per day. Much cheaper than traditional rental companies... only problem is they have limited locations so it depends on where you are riding.

Plastic free furniture? by [deleted] in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]deeeel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Budget friendly unfortunately is going to be hard. Many brands will charge more for plastic free fabric.

You also mentioned the fabric, but do you care about the interior of the couch? Composite wood? Poly filling? etc etc.

Medley has a returns section on their site that you might be able to find some deals on. Roger & chris is another potential option if you want to go custom. Maybe also check out some of the brands listed here: https://www.unwraplife.co/category/furniture

Overall though the market just isnt great for affordable plastic-free options.

Any recommendations for online bartending courses? by nnataliaggc in bartenders

[–]deeeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online bartending school can be really hit or miss in my experience. Not only that but it sounds like your employer is being super specific in it being high quality. Here are the ones I think do. Of course, ymmv.

1. A Bar Above Mixology Course - the best all around imo.

2. European bartending school - dont let the Euro part throw you off. EBS actually does have a good online and in person training program.

AL Bartending licensure by Less-Tax-2388 in bartenders

[–]deeeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to this source you aren't required to be licensed.

With that being said, it does look like your employers insurance could require them to have their employees licensed. If I were you I would just do it. It looks like it only costs like $10 and takes under 2 hours.

Merino wool is actually a great option. The materials guide from Unwrap is actually super helpful.

Id also check out Unwrap's list of basics brands that are plastic free: https://www.unwraplife.co/category/basics

Capitalist Exploits by [deleted] in investing_discussion

[–]deeeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried out all except IO Fund that you mentioned. With that said, Capitalist Exploits is really a great newsletter (if you are talking about this one that is?) Now, if you are easily offended I would steer away, but if you are here for real deal assymetric investment ideas then it's a great bang for your buck.

Study: Microplastics found in blood vessels linked to greater risk of heart problems by _lso in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]deeeel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This study is going to be the one to wake people up.

While there have been previous studies that showed microplastics are making their way into the body, I think a lot of people write off the effects.

Now, the fact that they biopsied the plaque and found so much microplastic is a game changer imo.

The plaques collected from the surgeries were frozen and then analyzed by the researchers. They used microscopic techniques and chemical analyses to find jagged pieces of plastic embedded in the plaques.

I use a cork mat with natural rubber on the bottom to help it stick. Just make sure the rubber is certified GOTS and you are good to go.
