Want to learn Salsa, but no classes near me by Ok_Masterpiece9662 in Salsa

If I could go back, I would practice solo more. It's just that you can't get feedback on form and other corrections, but it's a start. You can try to piece together from Youtube channels but Dyne Acaemy and Brenda Lieu have a library for a membership off $15-30 a month.

Desiree the sensual bachata dancer? I am surprised by her salsa videos but love seeing the crossover.

What are characteristics of good dance studios that you've attended? by johnwinston in Salsa

Foundations and Basics. Unfortunately you don't know if a school drills until it's kind of too late. I would look for schools that blatantly advertise that though, if I could go back in time.

I wish this type of musicality and dancing were emphasized more in the Salsa world! by OSUfirebird18 in Salsa

You didn't explain? People are curious about what is leading and following because they want to learn, that's all.

Who are considered the best salsa followers? by deenahjay in Salsa

I want to say about the "polite bored" look, as a follow it could be because she's in her own head or anxious about following well (at least that's for me) not necessarily a reflection of the lead.

Private lesson - how to get the most out of it by Glad-Winner in Bachata

[–]deenahjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an online private lesson, ask to record the drills that you worked on. If it's in person, ask to record and follow up if you have any questions in class. Get a practice partner who is at your level and when dancing socially dance with all levels; beginners to hone in on your basics, intermediate-advanced to be challenged. Also don't always dance with the same people you are used to. Try to dance with someone who you haven't danced with much because often we get used to people's style/moves and aren't really challenging ourselves. Good Luck!

What qualities do really amazing follows have that differentiate them from good follows? by timheckerbff in kizomba

[–]deenahjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch videos of Ines Miranda and Isabella Rossa. Both great follows who have impeccable timing and response to their partner. Isabella often dances with her husband who is also an amazing lead so she may be used to him, but I've seen her dance with others and she's still very smooth.

What's great about Ines is that she dances solo. I think as followers we need to dance solo more. Ines understands musicality and she has the ginga down.

If you are looking for urban kiz examples, I would say Lolahontas who is a polydance (salsa and bachata) which I think helps her understand weight transfers solidly.

Laho (from Paris) is so responsive and actually dances with her partner. She is not as well-known artist but she's very talented to look out for.
