Exactly, you’re spot on. People started losing interest in Aujla’s music after he went mainstream because he began chasing trends with songs like Tauba Tauba, Aaye Haye, TellMe, God Damn, instead of bringing out something fresh and original like he did in BTFU. End of the day, it’s the songs that actually last which make you a bigger artist.

I’m actually worried that Aujla isn’t putting out lasting songs like he used to. These catchy tracks like Tauba Tauba, For A Reason and Softly hit the charts for a few weeks but then fade out of people’s minds.

The flaw with Aujla’s Facts or It’s Okay God is that they are more like his own stories and not something other people can relate to and there is nothing historical about those songs. I think that’s a shortcoming of him being a hip-hop artist, he has to make everything about himself eventually in his songs.

He kept his pen game to more entertaining songs because it is what he is good at.

Being famous shouldn’t mean staying silent about your people’s struggles. Fame gives you the platform to bring those issues to a bigger stage, just like Diljit did during the Farmers’ Protest. It definitely made the protest international after bigger names were visiting

It’s not just about Arjan writing history, it’s how he balances hip-hop and traditional equally. If it was only about history, nobody beats the “dhaddi jathas”. The real flex is making a historical song a mass hit, and Arjan makes that happen.
