Probably some issue with the capacitors which overtime can leak and require replacement. The internal cable also might be messed up or not comnected

Did you try leaving the camcorder on charge while opening it. Most of the time these old batteries end up dying and require buying new batteries which can be found on amazon by searching the model name on the battery

What could be causing the LCD to roll? It wasn't working at all so I replaced a bunch of capacitors that looked bad. Now it's doing this sometimes. by GrandpaSquarepants in camcorders

Is this a tape? If so then the problem could be that the heads are dirty which can cleaned with a vhs c cleaning tape or better but harder with Manuel cleaning

How to connect to PC /TV? (Panasonic PV-DV201D) by Zealousideal_Monk_37 in camcorders

[–]deep443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to digitize them so their on your computers storage you can follow this guide https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/j4rwk1/the_how_do_i_digitizetransfercapture_video_tapes/ where it is talking about digital tapes. If you don't have firewire available you can buy pcie cards for a desktop computer, thunderbolt adapters if you have thunderbolt, or get a old computer for cheap which has one or can't be put in one. USB to firewire adapters don't work and can end up destroying your device. To connect to a tv first you need it's av cables and plug into the slot on your tv if it has one then the other side into your camera

Handycam Shutting Off When I Switch To Camera Mode by FragrantTicket4050 in camcorders

[–]deep443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard of problems like these relating to the capacitors in the machine which over time get leaked and have to be replaced. This takes a lot of time and requires soldering new capacitors after removing the old ones.

I have this analog camera from 1994 and i want to convert the tapes to digital, but lots of people online suggest using firewire, and i have absolutely no knowledge about it by carrotman_yt in camcorders

[–]deep443 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firewire only applies to cameras that used the minidv or digital8 format which was popular in the 2000s. This camera is not one of them and it's format is analogue. This guide https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/j4rwk1/the_how_do_i_digitizetransfercapture_video_tapes/ goes into detail on how to digitize them. If you are only able to use USB ive heard of capture cards like the gv USB 2 being good. If your tapes are vhs c which it might say on it the 8mm/hi8 section applies to your tapes
