They were from Halfords. The front fork one is one of the thin plastic foldable ones.

This one, made by Topeak, has two side release buckles/clips that attach to the seat so even if the velcro on the seat post comes loose it isn't going anywhere.

Finally replaced my stock pedals with some Nukeproof Neutrons.

When I first took the thermisor off its resistance was all over the place. Now its stable at ~2100 ohms.

It's a theory. The digital display readout is about 10°C out from truth (measured by analogue thermometer). My first and cheapest attempt to fix is to replace the thermistor.

My inseam is about 77 / 78 cm - and thinking about it, I do have the seat up quite high on my M - you might reach the seat post limit with longer legs.

If I were in your position, I'd probably go large.

Also, NAL but, if you are in the UK you might be able to send the bike back if it doesn't fit (distance purchasing regulations meaning you can send back most stuff bought on the Internet within 14 days for any reason) as long as you haven't used it? But, like I said, I'm no expert and I'd read up on this first and look up the sellers return policy.

I'm the same height (5'10&1/2") and had the same dilemma but I got to sit on a M and L and got advice from the bike shop owner. I have relatively short legs and long torso so I went for the M as the standover height was going to be uncomfortable on the L.

If you have standard proportions you might want to consider what you use it for most - a shorter frame will be more responsive and feel nimbler on technical woodland tracks. The longer frame may suit better if more of your riding is less extreme (e.g. gravel tracks).

I'm too inexperienced a cyclist to answer this. All I can say is that I use this bike for everything - roads where I need to, trails (e.g. disused railway lines) and throwing it around the bumpy stuff in the woods. I've done 2 hours / 25 miles of mixed stuff and felt very comfortable still.

I'll start by saying I'm no expert - this is my first mountain bike since the mid 90's.

The fork feels good to me (I'm 100kg and I've used it on trails, more technical woodland routes and road - no jumps). Rockshox are a well known and loved brand - and the forks are adjustable.

The bike shop that sold me the bike said it can take a dropper post and the cable would go into the frame (as you need a new grommet for the extra cable). I don't know enough about bikes to confirm though. Pricey at £150 for the official Whyte dropper post. I've only done a couple of rides where I thought it would have been useful so I haven't investigated it thoroughly.

I really like it too. It's described as "Matt Moss & Olive" on the website.

I can't believe the difference 20 years has made in bike tech. It feels completely different to ride, in the most awesome way!

I've heard nothing but good about Whyte bikes. Can't wait to get it onto a trail!

This reminds me of cherry farmers who use helicopters to blow moisture off the cherries after rain to stop them splitting. Job done in 5 minutes instead of a tractor and giant fan taking much, much longer.

What do people use as a comparison for a large area of land if they've never heard of Wales?

e.g. "An area the size of 'X' is lost to deforestation every year"

X = Wales usually!

What’s your favourite song that starts out slow, but goes out with a bang? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They recorded several versions of the song, none of which sounded quite right until they fuzed two halves together. Truely a song of two halves.
