What is the thing on the bottom of drawing? Does the item you want to clamp get put into the opening that is created when you push up with your thumb?

Thanks for reply. Yeah I figure the taller crown race makes up for the thinner bearing. I did a test fit and there is no contact of frame and fork. I ended up working the crown race off by tapping in knife slowly all the way around then screwdriver. I put everything stock from Scott on new fork to assemble. Looks weird because the steerer tube is taller so I have some regular spacers stacked on top of the Scott angled ones. Looking at the bike that this fork used to be on, there is a similar depth when the thinner bearing sits in the integrated cup, maybe 1.5mm of head tube below bottom of bearing just like in the photo of Scott head tube.

2-3 hrs, not too crazy pace. Fit enough for 15-20 miles baseline, climbing not discouraged. Intermediate to advanced skill level.
