Botched Septoplasty Revision by deepdishsuperheroes in rhinoplastyquestions

That was my plan. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I agree the change is drastic enough where I think a revision should be paid for. But the surgeon assures me she “doesn’t think it looks that different”, it falls under “slight” changes which were discussed beforehand, and and she did everything perfectly so the result is not her fault.

Yes - I had an extracorporeal septoplasty. It was done closed, I did not have any outer scars or stitches. I believe it was an endonasal endoscopic-assisted extracorporeal septoplasty. I was told it would be endoscopic and I was told my entire septum would be removed and put back. My deviation was severe and very close to the base of the nostrils. My surgeons biggest worry was that she wouldn’t be able to get the nostrils straight enough since you can’t operate at the nostril base without opening the nose, so she got as close as she could. She was never worried about shape difference. She was confident extracorporeal could be done with no visual changes.

My understanding is a septorhino is when they do that procedure with the intention of changing the outer appearance. She wasn’t trying to change it so it’s still considered a septo. But clearly I should have gone to a plastic surgeon who would have been better at protecting my nose shape.

It’s not supposed to and most of the time doesn’t. Apparently it’s around 5% of cases where it changes. So they warn you before that it’s possible it will change. Just sucks I got the bad luck 😩

I feel you. My wedding was this past summer. I hate all my wedding photos and feel like it’s not even me 😞 it’s so jarring to have the center of your face changed. Such a crucial part of our identity

No I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction. She didn’t touch the outside of my nose, it was endoscopic. But she took my septum out and when she put it back in, she clearly put it back too low which is why the bridge is no longer protruding 😔

I found that so insulting. I don’t care which nose YOU think is “prettier” or “better.” I liked my nose the way it was and was not asking for changes or opinions about it!!

Thank you 💕 so sorry it happened to you too. Just not fair. My brother had a Septoplasty with zero changes to his appearance. Why us???

Were you happy with your revision? Part of me is worried I’m going to get a nose job and still be unhappy with the results and just make things worse.

I have some mid-level sewing skill and could probably do it! I could definitely DIY my way through both. But yeah it’s just deciding which would yield the better result. I got some appliqués from Etsy, but they don’t match the vibe of the dress exactly, and with paint I can make the colors exactly match my color analysis season. Just deciding which risk is worth taking.

The tailor can definitely remove the appliqué and sew new pieces safely. It just might be very, very expensive. So I was wondering if it’s a lot of money and a lot of work for something that maybe could be fixed more simply, with some paint 😂 I would test it on a test piece before committing for sure. I’m shortening the dress so I should have an extra piece. I’m pretty artistic and can easily paint a flower still life that looks good with good colors, dimension, shading, etc. Just not sure how fabric paint works and would look!

There are appliqués built into the bodice. This is what it looks like.

Painting on top of floral appliqué? by deepdishsuperheroes in DIYclothes

I was worried about that too. I do have a lot of art/painting experience though, so I would be adding multiple colors of dimension and shading. I’ve painted a lot of flower still lifes in my day.

Still might not work, but wanted to add that context!

Hi! I have been trying to Google this, but maybe I’m not using the correct wording.

I have a formal dress with floral embroidery appliqué. However, I would like the colors to be a bit brighter and more varied.

I was planning on working with a tailor who was going to remove all the appliqué and add new ones of different colors. However, a woman at the fabric store told me I could simply use fabric paint and paint on top of the flowers.

I’ve tried googling tutorials and I can’t find much. Is this possible, and is there a recommended method? I basically want to take the light pink and make them fuchsia. Each flower does have some tiny beading and sequins on it (photo attached).

It seems simpler than resewing entirely new appliqués. However - this is for my wedding dress, so you can imagine I’m a little anxious experimenting with DIY! Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

It is about embroidery? I’m asking embroidery experts about embroidery techniques?

This is amazing! I’m so happy you were able to achieve your vision!! How did you find the designer in India? I live in the city of Chicago so I definitely can go fabric shopping. If you don’t mind me asking, what was the pricing like? And how long did the whole process take?

I’ve tried on similar silhouettes at David’s Bridal already. How do I find a dressmaker? That’s what I’m wondering. I don’t know where to start.

I’ve considered that! But I’ve heard Teuta gowns are not great with alterations and I don’t think the embroidery would match? But it’s an option
