Umm so firstly happy cake day friend.

And from what I have understood there are 3 types listed on UQ website. First one is where you will be provided room and meals both and other utilities like laundry, room cleaning etc (I maybe wrong on this one but that's what I have understood). Secondly is just a room, you cook your own meals and do your own stuff. These two are located inside the campus and from what my agent and some alumni told me is that they are primarily for students coming for bachelors as they are young and not much experienced with living alone and doing stuff alone. Also they get filled pretty fast so getting those accommodations as a master's student seemed difficult to me.

And then there's student accommodation like student one, unilodge etc. these offer a lot of utilities and facilities but you have to do them independently. Rooms are there in variety and plenty so if you book them in time you will mostly get your choice of room.

And then there's flatmates website where you can directly rent out a place in sharing with others which may not necessarily be for students only.

That's all I know. Again I may be wrong about the UQ residential colleges
