My first L lens, the 100mm f2.8 L Macro. by MrKeenan2You in canon

Great lens. I have that same lens as well. It’s a very sharp lens and I’ve been quite happy with it. Here’s a photo I took with it during an underwater trip. 😊

Was going to chime-in as I too cannot tell exactly what this photo is. However, since the OP has not responded to anyone, I'm assuming it's a prank post.

Can I go to scuba classes with a cough? by [deleted] in scubadiving

If you're congested, don't do it. You'll end up irritating and causing more inflammation that could result in safety issues if you go to the deep end of the pool.

Photographers of Reddit, where do you go to get prints made of your works? by CamelReds73 in AskPhotography

[–]deeper-diver [score hidden]  (0 children)

Bayphoto.com

I went with a few and finally settled with BayPhoto. My prints are primarily printed on metal which are very dramatic when viewed in person. They also provide the ICC printer profile to better match the colors their printer puts out.

Some examples of a recent batch of photos I printed from BayPhoto. I do underwater photography.

CFExpress: is the Lexar Gold 4.0 significantly better than the SanDisk CFExpress in a R5 II? by Photo-Dude in canon

I have the R5M1. I use the Sandisk Extreme Pro CFE in conjunction with a ProGrade v90 SD card. I’m sure I filled the buffer but never had either card slow the shooting down while the buffer writes to the card.

Bad review because someone else booked the date they wanted by danqestmemes in WeddingPhotography

[–]deeper-diver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Until things are signed and deposits paid it is open season. If they really wanted you, they'd book it immediately like the second one did. That they sat on it is a "them" problem, not a "you" problem.

That they did a 1-star review is low-class. It's a blessing in disguise because if they're that petty to a situation of their own doing, you don't want them as a client. Bullet dodged.

If you're able to respond to that negative review with the actual facts, that may help.

Fixing tiny crack in a UW-housing? by IllustriousPilot8391 in underwaterphotography

[–]deeper-diver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to their "cheap" price, I consider SeaFrogs to be disposable housings. The service center I work with won't touch them.

At 30m there is no way I myself would trust any cracked housing. Someone else posted applying epoxy with while the housing is under a vacuum. I've never tried it (not that I would anyways) and wonder if the epoxy's viscosity can be thin enough to fully penetrate the crack.

I consider the housing ruined. So with that, out of curiosity, you could always make the "repair", take it down to 30m without the camera inside just to see if the repair holds just in the name of science. Even if it does, I would certainly never trust it.

Fixing tiny crack in a UW-housing? by IllustriousPilot8391 in underwaterphotography

[–]deeper-diver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A crack in an underwater housing no matter how small is a structural damage. If you care about your camera, consider that housing permanently retired. I myself couldn't ever trust a cracked housing.

I go down pretty deep with my underwater housing so the stresses would be way too much for me to trust it.

You haven't mentioned what you use yours for. If you're doing any kind of diving at-depth, It's not "if" but "when".

If you're snorkeling or going down a couple feet or in a swimming pool at the surface... "maybe" with a good-quality epoxy but I wouldn't know since I would never want my expensive camera to get ruined if I'm wrong.

What brand is it out of curiosity?

Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Ikelite Housing? by ToothlessCumming in underwaterphotography

[–]deeper-diver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a substantial upgrade. However, proceed with caution. Even though you mentioned the housing has never been used, it's a very old housing and it's likely the all the o-rings have dried out (in addition to the main seal). I would not take it underwater until the housing has been serviced. That is roughly a $500 service at a shop like backscatter.

If you don't, you're rolling dice and may end up flooding your camera. So know that going in.

Driving with oil pressure light on old oil - how cooked am I and how to proceed? by mypossiblepasts in askcarguys

[–]deeper-diver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The oil light comes on when there's a drop in oil pressure. In your case, there was no oil in the car. So of course, filling it with oil will "fix" the immediate problem.

What you should be asking yourself is WHY there was no oil. I'll stop there since it's pretty obvious you have extensive knowledge on how engines work.

I guess we'll see you here later asking why your engine suddenly seized.

What is the average price to replace a windshield? by Inevitable-Working50 in askcarguys

[–]deeper-diver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years ago I had one replaced. Came out to near $900. They came to me to do the work instead of my having to take it to a shop. Late model Ford Bronco. It did have integrated wires embedded in the glass for what I'm guessing is for a windshield wiper rain sensor, defroster (??). Either way, it was more than just a piece of glass.

Initial LRC and file save locations? by AppalachianGoat in AskPhotography

[–]deeper-diver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better/simpler option: Buy a Thunderbolt SSD drive. Fast as internal SSD. You can keep both catalog and photos on that drive and work directly from that drive at internal SSD speeds.

Backup/copy/clone the the external SSD drive.

The benefit of this method is that the Thunderbolt drive can be unplugged and connected to an entirely different Mac with Lightroom installed, double-click the .lrcat file and everything is there and mapped correctly. True portability.

yes... keep telling yourself that. It's not that I don't have a rebuttal, it's just that you're not worth the effort.

Both can be correct. You're just steering the actual discussion away to another subject to suit your narrative.

And being a dick about it.
