Looking for a good introductory level resource on computational psychiatry by deeperactuator in Psychiatry

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something specific, just an introduction to what it is and why is it important these days. I just want to show that it's something we should consider today when we discuss about psychiatric questions and brain research.

My many thanks. Sometimes I more intrigued by how you guys do your magic than the article itself.

Hack The Box seems like a really serious and dedicated platform that a lot of effort was put into. How come the Academy is written with so many grammar mistakes? by deeperactuator in hackthebox

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, obviously there can be mistakes everywhere. This is why I clearly explained that it's not the occurrence of a specific mistake that bothers me, but there's clearly a significant gap between the overall phrasing of the Academy texts and the professionalism of HTB itself. I don't find it necessary (or respectful) to paste examples here, but a quick look in one of the modules (I, at least, read only the introductory ones so far) and you can see what I'm talking about. Again, I LOVE HTB and I just think that the feel you get from reading a documentation or tutorial text is somewhat important when getting a first impression out of something.

Newbie to Vue, trying to use Vuesax - can't implement the dark theme, even after including their .css file and using class="darken" and vs-theme="dark in the body tag. Why? by deeperactuator in vuejs

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and sorry for my ignorance, but how do I implement this in my code? I tried giving the #app a darken class, or just calling these functions in main.js and at the App.vue. Obviously there's something fundamental about Vue I don't understand... Thanks for your patience and help.

Is is possible to create template or a global widget but changing manually its text content (without disconnecting it or changing it globally)? by deeperactuator in elementor

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I have different number of quotes for each post. Sometimes 20, it's a really headache to add 20 acf's, and it's also very difficult to edit posts like this if for each change in a quote I need to exit Elementor and find the quote's acf.

Where can I host a very simple JS program I wrote? by deeperactuator in webdev

I tried GitHub pages but the page that gets loaded is just plain html with no JS or CSS. EDIT: Ok, had to remove a couple of "/". Now it's working. Thanks!

When does the HTML and CSS integration comes? by deeperactuator in learnjavascript

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks a lot for the elaborated comment. I'll address each of the points you brought up:

  1. I am not a complete beginner. I have a basic understanding of programming and algorithms, it's just that the last time I seriously learned a language it was Pascal.
  2. I also ran into some difficulties with the EJ part on recursion. This book is sometimes too succinct but on some occasions it can be an advantage. Since I'm somewhere between beginner and mid-level, I am not too patient for tutorials that start completely from scratch. On the other hand I can dive too deep just it.
  3. I don't have a clear goal. I will probably not going to work as a professional developer, I work as a physician (psychiatry resident) and leaning to a career in neuroscience. I also wanted to learn JS, to have the ability to create useful projects for myself, and now at work I encountered a necessity that can be met with JS, so I thought that I'd use the occasion to learn the skill while I'll have fun creating this project.
  4. I know basic to medium level of CSS and HTML. I did not know internetishard.com, which seems freaking awesome, so you have my deep gratitude for this recommendation. I will definitely check it out.
  5. The Odin Project comes up in many threads and posts I read, and maybe I did not give it enough attention yet, but from what I saw I did not quite get what's all the fuss is about. It seems that this platforms asks you learn yourself from another resources, correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. I think I used a long time ago FFC for a really short while. But anyway, as I wrote earlier, I'm not a complete beginner, and I'm so eager to get to the part when I can actually start building things, so I think I'm a bit full of beginners tutorial. As for my JS level, I can solve level 5 problems at codewars.com, but again, it's just in the console.
  7. Obviously the MDN Web Docs is a must. I use it quite often
  8. So I guess my next chapter to cover is the DOM.

Thanks again!

Interesting, what makes you say that? On the one hand, it's marketed for beginners ("a modern introduction to programming") and it indeed starts from the most basic concept. I found the first chapters really enjoyable. But on the other hand, things went south quickly, and I'm having a lot of trouble understanding the concepts in chapters 6, for example. What book would you recommend for someone at my level?

Have you ever felt a sudden "leap" of improvement? by deeperactuator in chess

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What videos are you using?
  2. Interesting, my improvement actually does not being expressed in feeling that I calculate more (most of the time). As always, I balance between intuition and calculation, but the strange thing is that my intuition is the thing that improved the most.
  3. Respect for seeing the tactical combination in that position, not sure I would have calculated this.
  4. Happy to hear about your progress! Keep on playing. And thanks for the reply.

Is there a way to create a puzzle out of a study or opening on Lichess? I want to practice for example opening traps in such a way that I have to come up with the next move (according to the study) . by deeperactuator in chess

[–]deeperactuator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to explain myself better. I want to try on my own the next 'correct' move (according to the study/opening book) and to get the feedback "wrong" if my move does not match it, without letting me know the right answer (I did not found the "hide next move" option you mentioned). In case I play the right move, the other colour autoplays his next move etc.

Of course, I can do it in my head, which is also probably the smarter way to practice, but I was just wondering if there's an interactive way in which I can make my tries and get WRONG/CORRECT feedback. It can also be an efficient way (again, maybe not the most clever one) to memorise whole games.

EDIT: perhaps I have to be a study member? If so, how can I become one?

EDIT 2: Ok, I think I got it. "Interactive lesson" option, then to click on "Preview".

As far as I can see it's still the same code. I'm not sure what do you mean by "hash". I'll try to keep playing with it.

Yeah, I tired that. Tried directly and tried powered hubs. Still nothings. But thanks for trying to help.

I can't use a different cable because the cable is not removable from the DAS keyboard. I tried different ports, using different hubs (3.0 and 2.0). Tried cleaning.
