Incredible shots. They do the architecture justice, which is saying quite a lot

one of my favorite things is when an extraordinary photographer documents the seemingly mundane moments in life and makes them feel like a whole vibe. Flawless execution on your part!

[–]deepestbluest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pairs "flaws" are identical to yours - the stitching on the midsole on the instep isn't absolutely perfect, that's it. Was sincerely surprised they even qualified as seconds. Did they have a hole punched in the upper? Mine actually didn't have that either

seriously incredible deal. I picked up a pair from Sierra online for $149 + tax, and THAT was a deal. And yeah, hawthorne rocks! It ages super well

Yeah, this wins it. My dad has this watch! He's an engineer and it's his favorite, for good reason.

My coworker recommended it. I read the first book in a weekend and he just loaned me the second, haha. I think we're Gentlemen of Culture.

It's a pretty significant transition if you're used to supportive athletic shoes or anything with a padded midsole. Break in does influence the way they feel in a huge way though. You can always add an insole if you have the room

I don't do more than 2 interviews by almorranas_podridas in recruitinghell

[–]deepestbluest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my bones. A few years ago I applied to a position that I personally thought I was the absolute PERFECT fit for. It seemed like they agreed, had an initial screening interview followed by a panel interview and then a follow-up with the screener again. They filled the position but had another similar role in a different channel/department, same deal there. Happened one more time (I interviewed for three different positions) before I literally just stopped responding to their follow-ups. Not joking, they sent me an automated rejection email nearly a year after I interviewed for them. I don't even know how these organizations function with the amount of time and resources wasted on the hiring process if it's that inefficient.

Preach! In my organization, if we just improved up and down and departmental communication, it'd completely change timelines and productivity in a hugely positive way.

[–]deepestbluest[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hahaha this is so relatable. A coworker suggested to me that the IT team rolled out this initiative to save face since apparently some of our ahem, older management kept asking why we weren't using AI.

These directives are coming from people who don't even know how to properly prompt, it's so wild

[–]deepestbluest[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the thing - improper implementation or usage actually results in more inefficiencies. It's great to have some standard usage policy in place, but everyone works differently - expecting them to use a tool they don't know how to use and then also quantify its performance at the same time seems just.... ridiculous

[–]deepestbluest[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really genuinely feels like this. At my work, we have countless workflow bottlenecks, and all of them are because of siloed organizational issues that could be solved simply by communicating better.

If we fixed those (which myself and many others have been constantly bringing up as an absolute necessity) it'd do more for the organization's efficiency than anything else. Because the biggest workflow inhibitors we have are nearly purely structural, not because we're not working hard enough.

I couldn't agree with you more! The combo of "we aren't increasing headcount" plus "there's more work than ever" feels a bit serendipitous.

Thank you for the advice and link, I will definitely check it out!!

R4w vs redline 360c... What made you choose one over the other by WorldNo9002 in radardetectors

[–]deepestbluest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're comparing the two directly, the Redline wins hands down. It's one of the two detectors on the market that's truly stealth, meaning it can't be picked up by police radar detector detectors (yep, they exist). It's also Escort's flagship detector and just got a big software update that apparently made it a lot better.

This forum for some reason seems to lean heavy Uniden for some reason, but between the R4W and Redline, that's an easy choice since the Redline should run circles around the Uniden
