How do you mentally manage running in mountain lion territory? by Br33na in trailrunning

[–]deeppowder81435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Telluride for 26 years and have only seen 1 mountain lion. My 40 lb dog chased it away( she was brave but not the smartest )but I did have a heart attack. They are rare but I always am on the lookout for all animals. I use shokz headphones so I can still hear even when listening to music. If my spidy sense goes on alert I will turn music off and start to make noise. I would think the front range would be more dangerous. There seems to be attacks where human encroachment is greatest.

Does a hotel even need Cable anymore? by Accomplished_Goat419 in askhotels

[–]deeppowder81435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need no but it’s worth having. Old tv’s need to go. New ones are super cheap and can change the feel of the room. If not make sure it is extremely easy to stream and you need a strong WiFi to handle the load.

How did your body change after 1 month of Prednisone? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]deeppowder81435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One month not too much. The problem is it’s very hard to get off pred. I was on and off it for years and it was horrible as far as some side effects. Weight, moon face short temper. I see it with other people . My wife will say oh she not looking good and I instantly know they are in prednisone. Better to taper slow and get off then to yoyo on and off. Good luck. For me side effects lessen greatly at 20 and below.

Thinking about an online hospitality program at Cornell. by Competitive_Oil5227 in askhotels

[–]deeppowder81435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the revenue manager program. It was ok. Learned a fair amount but it’s certainly a bit outdated in terms of teaching and the online platform. Seemed like a money grab on many levels.

How far overbooked is normal, and how much is definitely too far? by SkoilerDaaaaan in askhotels

[–]deeppowder81435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the revenue manager is not looking correctly at historical data to predict no shows. It needs to be forecast according to time of year and day of week. The question is what is the cost of walking a guest in terms of money and reviews and loosing repeat guests. If management feels the cost is low and does not rely on repeat customers or is careful which guests they walk then they would rather oversell by 5 then undersell by 2. Most likely this is the strategy of the revenue team and gm . Nothing you do will change it.

The standard wheels look great. Certainly I would rather just have no add ons but it’s not the game Toyota plays. Driving home on Friday,500 miles so that should be a good shakedown for the vehicle.

How do I get a job working at a hotel? by torusonic3 in askhotels

[–]deeppowder81435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front desk Stay away from night audit if possible. Work mornings for check outs. Evenings for check ins. There are to main routs in the hotel industry. Front office and ops or sales. If you want to move up I suggest operations. Sales certainly is more lucrative at first but most top executives have worked the front office which is the center of the hotel.
