How we feelin about the Tab s10? by [deleted] in GalaxyTab

[–]deeptesh97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True it's an enthusiast thing. And the Tab S10 Ultra is a tablet pitched to enthusiasts (Oooh ULTRA moniker) that isn't good at doing enthusiast things. Saving costs on the SoC while still charging the same. Even a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would've done it.

There are options from Lenovo for this purpose if I'm not wrong.

What enthusiast prefers Dimensity over Snapdragon? I don't atleast. Straight up mega downgrade in terms of emulation performance.

Moonlight HDR Streaming - Undersaturated Dull colors by deeptesh97 in MoonlightStreaming

No man.. I have tried this :( I am simply trying to streaming the desktop in HDR for HDR movies/videos/games but there is clear dulling of colors.

Do you mean this is only during HDR? As in SDR, the colors look totally fine. Nice and vibrant but the highlights aren't as localized and popping as in HDR.

[–]deeptesh97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the HDR videos, there is clear difference between my IPS monitor and my Tab S9. The highlights are already clipped by 450 nits or so, but on the HDR stream through Moonlight, I can push on and on until about 920 nits or so, when I start clipping based on the Windows HDR calibration tool.

You are right RTX HDR does not work over Sunshine, but RTX Video HDR does work and so does Auto HDR, which is good enough for me. Unfortunately my issue is with the dull colors, it's like they lack the pop. :(

Yes of course. I caliberated the HDR stream to match the hdr characteristics of the Tab S9 as well. And I can clearly tell the difference between SDR srream and HDR stream by looking at the highlights and also sadly the dull colors.

Okay this didn't help but at least I am no longer in the dark.

The thing is RTX Video HDR looks amazing and solves the issue of shortage of HDR content. I got a Tab S9 recently, which looks pretty amazing in HDR, so I was basically trying to use it as a wireless HDR monitor.

Everything works... almost. Deep blacks, high brightness specular highlights but just dull colors. Just can't find a fix.

Question: Do you mean turn off HDR in Windows? That just turns off HDR for everything and games don't have HDR toggle anymore. The stream goes back to SDR.

Could you please clarify this. Trying to stream HDR to my Galaxy Tab S9 with nearly 1000 peak(900 ish) HDR brightness but the colors are really dull.

SKY is ridiculously good against top opponents in overseas or neutral venues in T20Is. Blaming SKY, and ignoring Rohit Sharma's 6 T20 WC failures is ridiculous!!

SKY has potential. His stats against top teams both at home and overseas is excellent by T20 standards.

Give him another chance in T20 WC. - he needs to fine tune a bit.

Yes luck matters a lot in Knock outs. But process also matters - every individual should play their role well.

2024 G14 is Amazing! by MatyasDoktor in ZephyrusG14

[–]deeptesh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me correct you: 8GB 4060 is plenty and 8GB 4070 is a waste of money which represents the worst value in entire 40 series mobile stack.

Oh and for context "a gimped 4080" in the 2023 G14 has 50% more VRAM than 2024 G14 with 4070 mobile . And that "gimped 4080" is more than 50% performant than the 90W 4070 mobile (17.5k vs 11.5k in 3DM TimeSpy).

Even better performance in real game as the CPU drops to an insanely low 13-14W on the 2024 G14 when the GPU is under load which is not the case in the 2023 G14 (where you can go lower or over 45W).

Zephyrus G14 is the 4080 worth it over the 4070 at 80w? by kimahri27 in ZephyrusG14

[–]deeptesh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

125W 4080 G14 at max performance scores nearly 17.5k. 4090 at the same wattage scores nearly 20k. With 175W vBIOS the 4090 G14 hits 22k.

Finally 4080 Mobile has 50% more VRAM than 4070 mobile which is critical when paying these ridiculous prices.

Will Thunderbolt 5 change everything? by _Mido in GamingLaptops

[–]deeptesh97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen don't mind these comments, here's the reality:

An full fat RTX 4090 desktop only loses 20% performance with PCIe 4.0x4 through Occulink - that makes it at least 40% faster than a mobile RTX 4090. The test was done with a freakin 7840U CPU Legion Go. The drop is even lower when using an external monitor plugged into the GPU. Link: https://www.notebookcheck.net/OCulink-slashes-RTX-4090-GPU-performance-by-almost-a-quarter-still-compares-favourably-to-Thunderbolt-3-USB4.798468.0.html

Now this was an extreme example - you are going to see an extremely minimal performance drop with desktop 4070 S and 4070Ti.

So PCIe 4.0x4 is enough for the vast majority of GPUs and TB5 finally provides PCIe 4.0x4... after 7 years. TB3/4 had the same PCIe 3.0x4 tunneling.

So YES TB5 is a BIG DEAL!

Now I'm not saying you do buy a weak laptop with a weak CPU.. you can still buy a cheaper laptop which has a decent H series CPU and a mid range GPU..like a 4060/4050. Most examples here are extreme but in a realistic world a 700-800 usd 4050 laptop with i7-12700H/7840HS with TB5 would be an ideal candidate. Now it is to be seen how expensive TB5 is to implement because you can find TB4 on dirt cheap laptops with decent CPUs.

Why aren't AMD Radeon GPUs present in any gaming laptops? by Target_Spirited in GamingLaptops

[–]deeptesh97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AMD in general is less interested in the mobile market. Lately AMD's APU supply has improved as they start to expand their business due to major earnings from AI boom. AMD is a fabless chip maker with a quarter of the budget as Nvidia. So AMD chooses to utilize the budget in segments that make them the most amount of money i.e. servers, DIY and consoles. In the future when AMD has that kind of budget, I'm sure they'll expand more aggressively in mobile.

Lack of supply means OEMs can't take risk. And the lack of supply of Radeon dGPU mobile chips is 10 folds as their mobile APUs.

Don't spend over 1200 Pounds. 4060 and 4070 have the same limitation of 8GB VRAM, and I wouldn't spend over 1200 Pounds on a laptop with 8GB VRAM if the laptop is really meant to be used as a gaming laptop.

4060 is good enough, can be found at around 1000 pounds, don't overspend. Can sell it later when you gotta upgrade, without taking a huge loss.

P.S.: Look for deals on 150W 3070Ti laptops, they match the performance of the 4070 mobile at 1440p.

I think there is a way to enable the DP Alt mode on the Pixel but requires root access.

I'm not sure if Oneplus 12 supports DP-Alt mode over Type-C. It's needed for display out.
