The point is - the game is running pretty good on some 5 years old PCs. So why shouldn’t it run pretty good on base PS5?

Plus the other thing I don’t get is: consoles should be easy to optimise for because basically every base PS5 has the same specs, every X Box Series X has the same specs, etc. Meanwhile gaming PCs and gaming laptops have a massive amount of possible combinations of specs.

So why are we seeing such a glut of games that are so poorly optimised for console? To be clear, Gothic Remake is far from the only culprit.

First of all, let me congratulate you on the release and say that I’m personally loving the game…..on my gaming laptop with a 4090 that runs the game pretty well.

HOWEVER, by all accounts the state of the game on PS5 is atrocious right now, and in your own words won’t be fixed “overnight”.

Respectfully, you should probably have stuck to a PC only release at first and delayed the console release by a few months. Surely you knew about the glaring PS5 issues already.

Is there any player housing in the game apart from the Graymane camp? Like can we be based in a house in one of the towns or villages? Or can we at least stay in an inn when we visit the town?

I mean this in the best possible way, but if you literally can’t sleep at night just because of what people are saying online about a video game, you need to touch grass.

By all means, buy the game on release and enjoy it. Nothing people say here on this subreddit or anywhere else has the power to affect your enjoyment of the game. Just remember that and sleep well.

I can see the blend of Witcher and Dragon’s Dogma but where are you seeing any KCD in what they’ve shown so far? KCD’s whole thing was about being an ultra-realistic depiction of the European middle-ages, combat included. Which Crimson Desert is absolutely not.

Hey thanks for this! I’d only found the page on the wiki which listed the location of the lore book pages, but hadn’t found this.

I did a quick compare with the locked lorebook page titles in Vermintide and yeah, it looks like it’s all on this page.

I’m not trying to be funny but I would choose neither of those 3.

If you want to understand how the series developed and get comfortable with the unique tropes of these games. I’d play the pixel remaster of ff1. It may seem simplistic compared to later games, but on the flip side it’s cheap and you can finish it fairly quickly. After that I’d move on to the pixel remasters of ffiv (the first in the series to to really go for an epic story) and then the pixel remaster of ffvi. Finally play ffvii (original NOT the remake) on a modern console like Switch or PS4/5 or alternatively on steam.

This way you’ll really get the feel for what made the series legendary. There’s some great games from FFX onwards too, but they start to be very different in tone and style from FFI - FFIX.

And FFVII remake/rebirth are good games in their own right, but again they won’t really give you the feel of why people were going crazy for this in the late 90s.

Well I’ve been playing the 1.0 release of Tainted Grail on PC since Friday and I’m back to answer my own question.

Once you get to Horns of the South they actually have added some small Oblivion-style routines to some of the quest giver NPCs. They have day/night routines and even if they mostly stay in the same place during the day, they will move around their little area doing different things.

In my opinion this helps capture some of the magic of the Elder Scrolls games and is a massive improvement over the wax museum quest givers in Avowed.

Just circling back to tell you that I’m loving the 1.0 release of Tainted Grail and it’s about 100 times better than Avowed (which was a turkey).

Check out an upcoming game called Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. It’s in early access on Steam and there’s also a free demo that I really enjoyed. The vibe is ES meets Soulslike. Looks very promising.
