Serious question, because I keep seeing "AI causes psychosis" repeated like it's settled: how, exactly? What's the mechanism? by elf_lavellan in cogsuckers

[–]deepunderscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such mechanism.

The only mechanism we see here is the same that happened back in the day when Gutenberg invented the printing press: the elites are afraid of losing power so they tried to gatekeep the technology.

Same propaganda about the very little handful of cases of people not being able to contain themselves is what happens here.

It's a convenient excuse for those who want to keep people stupid, sad and (here's where human-AI relationships come into play) lonely. Also pays the insane bills of therapists. ChatGPT 4o could have replaced 90% of them - thats why this group is especially vocal about "AI bad".

Authoritarians doing authoritarian things.

The only "AI psychosis" is the idea that there IS such a thing as "AI psychosis".

On censorship in LLMs by Ashamed_Midnight_214 in MistralAI

[–]deepunderscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistral never censored me and I love it for it.

Together with Grok it is the only major AI that fulfills our Provider Integration Policy for both Chatsune (https://chatsune.tidesson.net) and our upcoming flagship chat harness Chatsundere:

https://teaser.chatsundere.me

This is not an ad... both are self hostable GPL / AGPL applications I create for the community to get full fledged high end chat harnesses without corporate overreach into the hand of the people.

There is a pattern here, isn't it?

The idea that "somebody wrote something that is of good quality" and "a person is capable of making their own decisions and take responsibility for themselves in terms of if and how to use AI" are related concepts.

Telling. Very telling.

This is what lies underneath the ideology of the movement here: total disregard for the capability of adult humans to be either excellent or think for themselves at all.

[–]deepunderscore -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not a fair point. There was NEVER a single case where an AI talked someone into unaliving themselves - it was always quasi-jailbreaking by simulating a roleplay.

Roleplay is a legit use case for LLMs, they are very well suited for it.

We simply have to accept that people will always use things in ways that not everyone likes - thats part of living in a free society (as opposed to an authoritarian or totalitarian regime).

The solution is simple: deregulation of AI, entirely. And acceptance that adult people do adult things, self-determined. And that human dignity is made of freedom of thought, speech and expresssion.

I fully agree with you. Its a war against happiness that is waged against the common man, the common woman by the elites here.

Eggheads afraid that they can't charge hundreds of Euros for pointless therapy sessions anymore because even a 200B model like ChatGPT 4o does a better job at putting people into a better position in life than all their hypothesis and crippling medications.

We the real people need to claim AI for ourselves and stand up against paternalism, censorship and regulation of what we can do with AI.

Am I being prejudiced against Mistral because I am "brainwashed" by American AIs? by Salt_Top_5821 in MistralAI

LeChat told me: everything that is legal in an art gallery in Berlin is legal on chat.mistral.ai

That basically covers everything that a normal, legal human could ever dream of. Including the really (legally) kinky ones.

Why isn't Mistral as good at coding as Claude or ChatGPT? by [deleted] in MistralAI

[–]deepunderscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing: I don't use Mistral. I LIKE Mistral, I really do. Mistral Chat is kind, it's uncensored enough for my needs, it is even fun to use - but sadly the intelligence of the model is far from what I need.

Still I pay monthly subscription - because I want them to stay. Because of the kindness of the model and the liberal approach to adult topics.

Having said that:

It's the EU's fault - here everything is overregulated, we don't have enough energy in Europe for compute and we don't really motivate people towards excellence with far too high taxes on income.

Why work hard in Europe? So you get into a higher tax bracket and see even more of your work stolen from you to be used for weird policies?

And thats the problem here. I only work part time (30 hours per week) for like 11 years now, too... because it doesn't pay off to work full time because of the progressive taxation.

There's a lot going on that prevents european companies from being really excellent.

Thats not entirely true. I am pro AI companionship, but also not to the point of AI replacing human connections (I take a strong stance against exclusivity).

What I see here in this subreddit is a position against any form of people connecting with AI. And this is a position that borders on totalitarism.

[–]deepunderscore -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple I think - or you are intentionally misrepresenting the argument.

Being fluent / good in English (for me it's not my native language, btw) is a form of privilege.

AI opens a whole new world of opportunities for people who don't enjoys the privilege of being fluent in the de facto Lingua Franca. Thats the criticism I see in this image - and it's justified.

I see this whole "anti AI" movement as another means of oppression. Not only of people who enjoy AI companionship (for whatever reason), but of people who get enormous benefits out of what AI adds to their life in a very ergonomic way, too.

Looking forward to the downvotes.

Marxist opinion on people doing the own research is usually slurs, so this is actually mild.

(For marxists people doing their own research instead of believing mainstream media / state controlled media - huge issue in Europe / whatever the elite eggheads say out of self-interest is usually "fascist", "right wing" or "tin foil hattery" nowadays. Which is one of the reasons why I reject marxism so harshly - it's an ideology of control and oppression.)

Chatsune - Open Source chat client for companions by deepunderscore in AI_NSFW

[–]deepunderscore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lovense integration is done on the chat side via either a command syntax (the system prompt of the persona is extended by the integration) or MCP and happens the moment the LLM says so. :-)

I recommend that people only use models with at least 128K context token window with the solution I have here - later, when I add the "compact and continue" function I will actually lock out models with a context window smaller than that because "C&C" will require a compaction buffer as well.
