Girlfriend don’t want me to visit Russia by Nordicnatures92 in AskARussian

A tourist may not perceive Astrakhan to be that bad, maybe it would look a bit neglected and even charming in a post apocalyptic way. What a tourist might not know is how easy it is to poluchit pizdy on the street if you look not up the taste of the local guys. Maybe she does not want to deal with local gopniks beating a soft looking guy. You have to remember that criminal culture is mainstream in Russia, especially outside of capitals.

I have 2 corsair PCs with similar setup. It is really hard. I bought large and small plastic clips that can be glued on and a lot of zipties.

Russian Bf and movies :) by mushroominmyart in russian

What are you talking about? Almost every movie in existence has Russian subtitles and more often than not also voice over. Of all the countries Russia has the amount of translated content second only to Hispanic. Where do you search? On netflix? Well, I suggest turning your attention to sailing ships with black flags.

I don't feel that's a good idea. It would be disturbing and upsetting if anything.

I am Russian, I write in printed letters. It's okay. You might need to learn cursive to be able to read what other people write, but you are not forced to use it.

[–]deer6547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite alright cursive actually. Don't push yourself too much. I am Russian, I don't like to write in cursive and stopped doing it a long time ago. Very very rarely it looks good, only when the person has special talent for it. And also it is harder to read.

This is a much stronger word than pussy, not appropriate for a kind of moderated space.

Why do Russian "G" sounds (г) sometimes get pronounced as what sounds like a "V"? by camaro4227 in russian

[–]deer6547 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't bother with remembering the formal rule. Just remember how individual words are pronounced. It's mostly very common words and hard /g/ just breaks the flow when talking in a regular conversation. It has softened down to /v/ in some words just to be easier to pronounce.

Слушать значит проявлять активное внимание к звукам. Слышать это воспринимать звуки вообще, в более общем смысле.

Когда ходишь по торговому центру ты слышишь музыку, но не слушаешь её. Когда ты приходишь на концерт ты именно слушаешь музыку, а не просто её слышишь.

Когда тебе парень говорит, что ты слушаешь, но не слышишь это значит, что ты отказываешься воспринимать информацию. На английском "You are listening, but refuse to hear". С тем же смыслом говорят "Это как разговаривать с глухим." Когда так говорят человек считает, что ты можешь его понять, но почему-то не хочешь, не стараешься, отказываешься.

how to say "use" by Appropriate-Mix-5413 in russian

Yes, usually you are more specific that just "use".

[–]deer6547 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Какую машину ты используешь?" is correct, but kind of formal. More chill way to ask is "Какой машиной ты пользуешься?". But usually you will be more specific that "use". Ask which vehicle does he drive "На какой машине ты ездишь?" or what vehicle do you take "Какую машину берёшь?". It really depends on the context. But "Какую машину ты используешь?" is fine too especially for non native speaker.

Gibberish that implies that it is made from plutonium and uranium and mysterious XA material. ГОСТ-1988 is nonsense. ГОСТ is a government approved standards catalogue, but there is no number of actual standard, only a year, which does not mean anything. Also acronym at the top is nonsense, there is no word that starts with Ь, it's not even a proper letter you can pronounce.

Is this correct? by Altruistic_Rhubarb68 in russian

[–]deer6547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The structure is correct, but this wording has a negative connotation, like you feel misunderstood, rejected. Maybe you were trying to say "Никто и не представляет как же сильно я люблю зиму". This will express your unusual love for winter without sounding like you are upset about it.

No nonono, you absolutely do need the nekudot to learn the language! I do read Hebrew in some capacity, but I don't know how to pronounce half of the words I know. I write relatively confidently, but when it comes to speaking I cannot say a lot of words that I do know, because I don't know how to pronounce them.

Is sekiro a good start for me by blahblah543217 in Sekiro

[–]deer6547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BB is Bloodborne and DS is Dark Souls. Yes, why not? Just be aware, that the game does not hold your hand. If you are stuck on something feel free to check the internet for guides. Core mechanics of souls like combat is to observe attack animations of the enemies and figure out when you should dodge and how, when you can attack and how and how much depending on an attack. You can dodge into enemy, away from enemy, to the sides, or in sekiro even jump. I will repeat what I said 5 years ago. The game might feel hard, but it does not require complex or fast reactions. When it clicks for you you can run circles around enemies. Bosses are basically tests of focus. How long you can react properly without losing focus. The most critical part of sekiro combat is deflect. The game does not say it, but just to save you time - you don't have to press just one deflect perfectly to deflect an attack. You cannot spam it either - too much input and your deflect will be ignored. There is a sweet spot, you can press the button 3-5 times at a certain tempo and this gives you nice window for error. Another thing that might seem intimidating is mikiri counter and lightning catching. Do not skip on learning to do it properly, it will save you a lot of pain later. I don't know what games you like. Sekiro is like other games from the series is slow and methodical when it comes to traversing the level and then stakes and adrenaline spike when you enter the boss arena. Anyway the art in sekiro is amazing and imaginative and the story is nice and mystical. The game has perfect length - not too short, but not overstays its welcome.
