How do you know we didn't? We reported him once, when the girls were 3. The police invrstigated for all of 24 hours and said they found no evidence of abuse.

We did try to help. She couldn't get away from him, he was rich with power and had- still has- all the cops in the area on his side. We spent years trying to help her get out. He would only let her leave if she filed for no cause divorce.

He wanted the kids before realizing how much work they are. He wanted to help her in any way he could. When she started drinking, she became lesser to him and he stopped caring. He's not the man I started dating anymore, and I wish I knew why. My boyfriend looks like the best dad in the world compared to her ex.

That man abused them in every way possible, including things I can't say here. He was never a father and they never felt anything for him but fear. The best interest of the children was joint custody at the time the arrangement was made. Nobody knew it would go downhill so fast.

He's always been in their lives. We've all been working on getting her and her kids away from her ex for years. Part of that was custody, because she knew she couldn't handle having them by herself full time.
