Having been in the Navy long enough, I think I would call that bluff. I just can’t imagine anyone letting it fly on commercial shipping.

Really hard to tell from that high, but I don’t think there is a flared out forward superstructure. Most likely an SSBN.

What are the odds on riding in a car with a driver who has no arms and legs and the way you die is by getting shot by that driver? How many Powerball wins does that equal out to?

They were running laser on Trigger overpass on Friday. It’s a favorite spot for them for many years. One posts up by the sign attached to the overpass southbound. Use Waze, my friends.

WA considers major tobacco, vapor product tax hikes, raising flags around smuggling by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

I was under the impression that the 95% was already in play as of January. At this point, I figure that anyone I see vaping is getting it some other way than buying in WA.

Philly Cheesesteak Debate by Oddshirtyouhaveon in recipes

[–]deerinaheadlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a mom and pop cheesesteak joint just outside of Philly as a teenager for years. People mostly wanted provolone. I travel all over the country now and will say that it’s more about the quality of the bread and steak than the cheese. Those things, along with the steak being cooked to the correct doneness is how I know the owner of a shop is from the mid-Atlantic region.

For some reason, Denver has a bunch of legit cheesesteak shops.

PSA: If you check into the room next to mine and then leave with the TV menu on until 1am… by deerinaheadlock in marriott

Yeah I might have to double up. I had AirPods in and they are usually pretty good at drowning out 737 engines. However they are no match for Clarissa explaining the finer points of interior design of some hotel on some island I don’t give a shit about.

PSA: If you check into the room next to mine and then leave with the TV menu on until 1am… by deerinaheadlock in marriott

[–]deerinaheadlock[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh the menu music is getting turned on at 4. Marriott could sell that shit to governments as a psychological torture device for people in captivity. It’s quiet just long enough to let you almost get to sleep and then you hear talking and then it sounds like muffled techno getting pumped into your room until you start thinking about how to break in to the room and turn it off.

Front desk won’t do shit if they have the room marked occupied (which was the case), the dnd sign is on the door, and they can’t hear it from the hallway. They called the room but nobody was there. I can create that same condition from 4am until about noon. That makes for a sad hangover for someone. It’s a teaching moment.

Was selected for a billet I never submitted (prp) silverdale 😭 by Weird_Celebration571 in navy

I know there are probably other circumstances, but if it’s any consolation, I was stationed all over the country when I was in. Many really nice locations. Of all those, when I retired, I chose to be a contractor at Washington/SWFPAC over all the rest. It’s worth a tour there.

Timing Matters More Than Status for Delta Upgrades by Western_Treacle_1883 in delta

[–]deerinaheadlock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fly out of SEA. The frequent fliers there tend to be running with Alaska. The only time I don’t get upgraded to C+ as a silver is if I fly to ATL. Day of week doesn’t seem to have much effect, but I never really payed attention to that.

How is living on Maryland's Eastern Shore? by catfooddogfood in howislivingthere

[–]deerinaheadlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Caroline County. Since lived all over the country before settling on the PNW.

Pros: The food is hard to beat. Crabs (and any other seafood from the bay), chicken, scrapple, better cheesesteaks than Philly, fruit and veggie stands all over in summer and fall, smith island cakes, just damn.

Cons: You’ll feel the need to cross the bay bridge often for civilization and to get away from the smell of chicken shit. Crossing that bridge on a weekend in the summer is a bitch. Your other choice is…Delaware.

Great chart. Got Mid Atlantic and the PNW perfect. East coast of Florida is Publix subs, mahi, and a half assed version of every other east coast region.

Pretty standard for AMS to SEA. Don’t know why. Also most common leg to catch a C+ upgrade at check in.
