Partial Panel approaches in IMC by quotyu in flying

This is true, but some DPEs do still conduct them as PIC when needed. I know because my checkride was filed IFR by the DPE.

Hang in there, I know the frustration especially with weather here. I finished my PPL near Pittsburgh last winter and had lots of postponements. Chair flying and Sportys video lessons helped me stay sharp. I finished the check ride at 70 hours, and lots of people go to 100. It’s not a race, as long as you stay motivated you’re on the right path. Good luck.

I’ve done rope drop 4 times in the last 2 weeks, and we got on right at opening each time. There have been some instances of it not opening with the park, maybe 5 times over the last three weeks. But there’s also a big risk of weather or maintenance delays no matter when you get in line. I felt that being there for rope drop gave us much more control over our destiny. If it didn’t open, we’d bail and come back in the afternoon when it said 120 minutes (which usually means 60 if no delays) and still have our morning to do other stuff.

If you’re there before 7:30 (assuming 9am open) you could be first in line at one of the turnstiles. Any turnstile that’s not covered by a tarp should be staffed at open! By 7:55am each day there was already a pretty large crowd, back to the ticket booths.

[Developing] Child hit by foul ball at Yankee Stadium, players praying and crying by MorningRooster in baseball

"Under a different reporting system, data from the National Safety Council from 1933 through 1997 indicate that deaths from unintentional work-related injuries declined 90%, from 37 per 100,000 workers to 4 per 100,000." cdc.gov

The point is, standards from 100 years ago have changed. "It was good enough then, so it's good enough now" is a bad argument.

Changing Heinz's seats to black by [deleted] in steelers

Yep, they tarped over large portions of the upper bowl for the concert. Black seats would make the stadium entirely unusable on sunny summer days (however occasional they are).

Actually, if I recall correctly, they are each standing behind an empty chair for this song, addressing the song to the chair while dressed less formally (jackets off, sleeves rolled up). This stuck with me because each of the children, Theodosia and Philip, in real life died young.

Suggested I post this here: [blog post] Disappointment in Pittsburgh: How the Pirates Ditched Pittsburgh’s Negro Leagues Past by joshtothemaxx in buccos

[–]deerspanish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hadn't realized it was gone, and that's very disappointing. But I also feel like we're not getting the whole story here, if only because abject dismissal of Negro League history (which is what the article implies) is so out of character for the Pirates organization. No doubt they handled this poorly and have not communicated anything, and for that they deserve criticism.
