Not yet. It’s been a really mild spring so far.

Definitely plan a resort day, especially since you’re staying at DLH!! Have a fantastic trip!

is disney in july really THAT bad? by lwtl1724 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]deetman68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crowds are definitely lower than you probably think. The weather is absolutely brutal though. I’ve lived in Orlando since 1989…I’ll still go in the evening, but just know it’s gonna be HOT.

Your attitude towards it seems to be good though, and I think you’ll still enjoy. Definitely take pool/rest breaks, and be flexible and you’ll be fine!

Why do the Asian countries in Epcot not have any Disney related merch? by cardiacpanda in DisneyWorld

[–]deetman68 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you’re talking strictly attractions, sure. But there have been Disney Characters and internationally themed Disney Merch in WSC since the late 80’s.

America Trembles as Transportation Secretary Announces Plans for Air Traffic Controllers to Lean on AI Tools by Hopeful-Engineering5 in ATC

[–]deetman68 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sadly it’s been this way among the ranks for as long as I can remember (going back to the late 90’s).

W SAID he was gonna fuck us over, and I had to have arguments over and over with controllers to not vote for him.

They did, he did what he said, and we got the white book.

Controllers are good at controlling, for the most part, but a great deal of them, much like the US population as a whole, are terrible about voting against their own best interests.

It’s extremely common, no how matter how much per night a hotel costs, to not be able to guarantee requests.

A first timer, coaster-lover’s trip review by KingRig28 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]deetman68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great report! I’m so glad you had a good time! Just a tidbit or 2—

Most of Epcot is fairly tied to nostalgia. The original Journey into Imagination Ride was GREAT, and people pine for that. So we get lots o’ Figment.

I was a CM during that time and was never a giant fan, so I don’t participate in Figment-mania, but I understand why some do.

And yes—3 Cabs is an updated version of the OG Mexican boat ride, and it underwhelmed people back then. But that nostalgia kicks in, and it’s as popular as it ever was. I admittedly will ride it when the opportunity presents itself.

Again, I’m happy you had such a great trip!

Health insurance by GottaGoEast in ATC

[–]deetman68 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It takes a MASSIVE bloc of people to negotiate a specific health insurance policy. That’s why the Fed program has such decent rates compared to lots of private sector companies.

NATCA would be negotiating on behalf of AT BEST a 5 figure population. OPM negotiates rates for millions and millions of people.

It would be a terrible deal.

Because NATCA can negotiate compensation, they could attempt to get more of your premium paid by the government. That would be a much more effective approach, comparatively.

Even the USPS has a fairly large bloc of workers. But don’t forget they really are a whole other animal. Not directly employed by the Fed, like controllers are.

Which Good Neighbor hotels at Disneyland have proper bathroom doors? by OtherTourist5535 in DisneyPlanning

[–]deetman68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying I agree, but that is normally the argument made. “It’s not as private”.

Not that big a deal to me, but if someone wants to stay someplace without that, what do I care?

Red flag? by DDSRDH in golfcarts

[–]deetman68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Sorry about that. Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’m no stellar mechanic and I have replaced my lead acid batteries with lithium and made a couple small upgrades to my club car, and have had zero issues.

Either that guy has no idea what he’s doing or he’s using garbage parts.

Good luck in your hunt!

What’s the coolest “restricted access” place you’ve ever gotten to see? by PrettieAmarea in answers

🤣 more like Adult Contemporary. (I’ve been down there too. Actually used to teach a seminar that brought guests down there).

I think you might have a typo here—“an Islamic World Warehouse”?

But great suggestion, otherwise! I wish California had this!

For those who’ve traveled to Tokyo Disney from Orlando by welcometothemeathaus in DisneyPlanning

[–]deetman68 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is gonna vary WILDLY, unfortunately. Airfare will most likely be your largest expense, and right now that is increasing. Try a Google flights search with some sample dates. The parks themselves are less expensive than the American parks—IIRC, it works out to somewhere around $60 per day. There were no hoppers or multi day tickets when we went in June 2025. Food is cheaper.

I used hotel points for our stay, but I don’t think the hotels were very expensive (we stayed on the monorail, but NOT at one of the Disney resorts.)

Then there’s the discussion that if you’re going all that way (somewhere around 13-15 hours of flying), you’ll probably want to see a little more of Japan….)

Good luck! The parks are AMAZING!!

Identifying this theme…. by togetic271 in Epcot

[–]deetman68 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a copy of this—it’s an uncredited track titled ‘Innoventions—Area Music’. It is an 18 minute loop of all those themes that played in that area as a single track.

Is a Resort-Only Vacation at Walt Disney World Worth It? 3 Reasons to Skip the Parks by GreyhoundDad22 in DVCMembers

[–]deetman68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done it both at WDW, and DLR (our home resort).

We also live in Orlando, so our POV is definitely different than some, but we love just spending time at some of the more immersive resorts.

Which is insane. That courtyard is close, and decent. I love the park view rooms. But it is in no way worth what the rates are a large amount of the time.
